Button requests for failed bunt attempt. foul and 3rd strike

couple ideas for future consideration around captureing failed bunt attempts that are so prevalent in fastpitch softball..

a) Add a button on third strike out screen, "bunt foul 3rd strike" (could be to the right of dropped 3rd button)

b) 'swip' foul button, to record "bunt foul"

thanks

We will consider these for future enhancements. The reason we do not have them separate right now is that statistically, (a) is just a strikeout, and (b) is just a foul, so if we do add them, the only place the information would be seen would be the pitch by pitch listing or the play by play listing (in which case Notes would actually serve the same purpose). But we will add to the list as a low priority for now. Thank you.

fwiw... I would like to see the AB listed as a failed bunt attempt on the main screen. During a game, you provide the AB results with the hit chart each time the batter comes to the plate - but if it just shows Ks we have no way on knowing the batter was bunting last time up unless they actually got a bunt in play.

Along different lines - any idea on when Left v. Right stats may be available? At least in Softball, many girls will slap from the left depending on the situation, but bat from the right. Would be nice to see one versus the other.

Thanks - and thanks again for the continuous improvements.

"Failed bunt attempt" is not very well defined. What OhioTex was asking for is when the strikeout is because of trying to bunt the third strike, having a way to record the strikeout as because of fouled bunt. (This would be similar to slow pitch softball where they have rules about still being called out on regular fouls as well when you have 2 strikes.) Most of the time people don't risk trying to bunt with 2 strikes.

It sounds like you are asking for something to show if they tried bunting at all. This is harder to identify... would require something like "strike, bunt swinging" as opposed to just "strike swinging" for each pitch, and then you are asking to see if they tried to bunt at all and failed during the at bat? What if they put the bat out for a bunt because the coach called for a bunt, but pulled the bat back, and had a called strike? Isn't that still a "failed bunt attempt" in the coach's eyes? As you can see, it is quite difficult to decide/track.

For left vs right, we do have it on our list, but it is still a bit lower priority right now, so probably will not be out for at least a few more versions. Thank you.

I understand your point. You would be surprised by the number of bunt attempts with 2 strikes. Especially at the younger ages. Girls that struggle with a faster pitcher actually do better bunting than swinging. Mechanics and confidence what they are at 9 & 10yrs it is sometimes easier to get them to stay in and bunt than to catch up to a faster pitcher. Any ball in play at that age is usually good enough to get on base.

Just trying to get some idea of how often certain players/teams are trying to bunt. Also, could you change the score book symbol from a G to a BT when the defense has a PO on a bunt attempt. The score book shows BT on successful bunts, bunts resulting in a PO show as a ground ball out. This should get me what I'm looking for.

Good suggestion on the scorebook... we will add this to the list. Thanks.

That is exactly the problem, statistically they are treated the same and then masked.. unfortunately bunt plays are fast paced and typing in notes at that time is extra hard..

agree with points by coach and FTM.

( have to agree a lower priority than say..... between inning recaps..... (which solves a number of wants from version 1.X), but I would probably rank above many other 'wants' ..)
