First let me say that I love this app! SO MUCH easier than using a book, and I got to push off keeping the official book to another mom. Hopefully you'll be getting some new customers, as everyone at the ballparks wants to know "what are you doing on that thing?" When I show them everything the app does they think it's the greatest.

Last night someone asked me if I could do a report of their son's defensive info. Positions played, number of innings at each position, stats at each position, etc. I looked all over, but couldn't find such a feature. Am I missing it, or does it not exist? If it doesn't exist, is there a way to add that to your enhancement request list?

that type of formated information by player does not exist as an automatic output today. the raw material to manually create such a report does. I suspect FTM will add this to the list of ideas for future consideration.

today you can manually produce something like that with some work and manipulation of the stats that are produced (html, xls, cvs) and extracting information off the score card (innings played at what position).. but to do it will take some time on your part to manually create and update it each game.

The defensive stats are part of the stats included on the game info screen. Go to Team Fielding for your team. Positions played will be part of your pdf score card showing the position and inning that the player substituted. Innings played are not part of the stat spreadsheet but could be determined from the scorecard and stats are for overall defense for a player not necessarily at a specific position.

You can get close with the team & player web sites, but it doesn't break it down by position.

I Thought I would resurface this thread as an idea still on the intriguing list..

Future feature idea... to somehow drill down on a player on team web site or on Player card to see fielding stats by position played..

It is a nice suggestion, but not something we are likely going to be able to do any time soon. In our post game stats, we store what each player did offensively, defensively, and pitching, but not on a position by position basis. Our experience is the majority of users do not track defensive statistics at all --- they are interested in offensive statistics and pitching statistics --- especially at the youngest ages. When the players get older, they start to specialize in a position and are not playing 4 different positions in a single game any more. It is something we would like to do at some point, or possibly one of our stat partners like edgehq.com would be someone that may start providing this information.

We do show Starts at each Position, Games Played at each Position, and Innings Played at each position on the emailed player cards. This seems to cover most of what the coaches of the youngest players are looking for.

Sounds very reasonable...
