@support - Any new point of view or updates?
@PhilliesFan218 and anyone else reading along -- I found a couple previous related threads on this topic that i thought i would try and connect.
In review, you will see this has been raised a few times over the years, and there was a debate on putting a zero or blank in the active half inning, including references that zero for inning in progress tends to be more common than not .. that said, I have a point of view on this and thought i would way in. hopefully others reading along may too.
UPDATE: - iScore Central Viewer App was launched after the above referenced threads were written. Interestingly, in the iscore central viewer App , the scoreboard adds a yellow outline box around the active half inning run number, it still displays Zero when you start an inning and increments runs as they are scored during a half inning, but with the yellow outline box around the current half inning, the viewer app seems to convey the 'in progress' point and has not generated the same level of questions on the forum.
the original isocrecast on web browser, however, is like the handheld app and could use a visual cue like suggested below or used in the central viewer app for half inning in progress. .
MY POV
- I would like to see iScore update its standard, but it is not about zero or blank in the active half inning, but about how to provide better visual to differentiate a half inning in progress with color/shading. So at a glance, viewers know "in progress".
What i though made most sense, Shade the active "in progress" half inning box to visually indicate active inning AND color the run number (eg yellow, red or blue). I think both visual clues would register with users and "get it" with out explanation.
by the way, This applies equally to all platforms (ios and andorid, phones and tablets) BUT even more so on the web based iscorecast (updated: central app game viewer already has a variation on this theme, with out line box).
Example below
(I can not show a box shade or box outline in this forum post, but to me the color example proves the point (and recommend it even higher than shading) , be curious others POV)
- At a glance, are we in Bottom or Top of 3rd inning ?
At a glance, are we in Bottom of 3rd or going to the 4th ?
Suggest more clear, at a glance,
- in top of third, visitors still batting
Mid third, home team due up to bat
in bottom of third, home team still batting
finished the third, going to 4th
