Run Limits

Post by ScottFX » Mon Feb 23, 2015 12:26 pm

Run Limits for an inning that automatically end the half inning and charge the current pitcher with the remaining outs.

Or simply when I manually end the half inning, charge the current pitcher with the remaining parts of the inning

Currently if a pitcher gives up the max 4 runs in our league and has not recorded an out they get 0 innings pitched (or .33 or.67 depending on the number of outs) which is screwing with our ERA calculation and later the number of innings pitched total

It is correct that the number of Inning Pitched is a calculation based on the number of outs the pitcher made. If a pitcher comes in and makes 0 outs and the inning ends (or if they make 0 outs and leave the game), they are credited with 0 innings pitched.

You can look at the Innings Appeared stat at position 1 to see how many innings a pitcher appeared in. It sounds like your league may be using Innings Appeared as a way of limiting how much a pitcher can pitch, but it would not be correct to change ERA to treat a pitcher leaving due to max runs reached as thought they had completed the inning.

but in the case this weekend, the pitcher pitched the full inning, and the run limit was reached with out a out recorded. Iscore recorded it as if she did not pitch an inning at all, she later came back in the game at the end for 2 outs....so for the hole game it looks like she pitched .67 innings when in reality she pitched 1.67 innings.

Would it be terribly difficult to add an option to the end half inning to charge the remaining outs (inning limit) the the current pitcher?

iScore scored it correctly. If she made 2 outs, she pitched 2/3 of an inning. By definition, Innings Pitched = Outs / 3. That is the definition of the stat. Anything else would skew ERA. If a pitcher appears in 100 innings and only makes a single out, they have 1/3 of an inning pitched. That is not iScore's definition, it is the definition that has been in place since the start of baseball (and softball by extension).

It sounds like your pitcher APPEARED in 2 innings, but only pitched 2/3 of an inning as far as the official Innings Pitched stat is concerned.

It would be helpful to add an option that allows you to put in an inning run limit, so that when a team gets to "5" runs (or whatever the run limit is, if any) the inning is automatically over- the teams switch. Equally important so that the pitcher gets stats for the 6-8 batters she faced during that long inning.

This should be in the settings during play, just like outs per inning or how many innings or how many fielders.

Not having this feature has really messed up my books/stats and I'm almost forced to not use iscore because of this feature- or lack of.

Easy fix- please and thank you!

Pitchers get stats for every batter they pitch to.

You can use Misc -> End Inning when the run limit is reached if your league implements a run limit.

Iscore as is can handle all varieties of run limits. No need for an update.

Use misc end inning. Will solve your problem

Rn limits and run rules vary too much by league to systematically program in.. .. Can vary by inning, score , tournament etc.
