I'm curious to hear from those of you who used Scorepad in the past. Angelfan, you mentioned importing not just rosters, but also stats. I find that to be an interesting proposition from the standpoint of being able to see where a player is year to date, but am curious about people's use of it beyond that. I only score games I attend, and find it interesting to be able to see stats for the games I attended vs. how the team/players generally play. I suppose importing stats could make this easier. In general though, tons of statistics are available for MLB in various places.

I agree having an import option for MLB Rosters would be great. If it needs to be more generic, I would be happy to have the ability to use a regular keyboard to enter information.

Hi ben

I used Scorepad, but their confusing (or impossible to find on their website) upgrade policies and their Windows-centric approach made me look for alternatives (plus they don't have an iPhone app, and I doubt will have anywhere near the customer support of FTM).

One could subscribe to receive MLB stats and rosters, which, once downloaded, would populate the app with all MLB players and theirs stats. So you could download the stats in the morning, go to the game in the afternoon, and, while the game progresses you could have all stat and player info at hand, specially AVG, which appears in the main window, and I have requested as a feature for iScore. For me it is very important to see the actual average of the player coming to bat. Plus, clicking the player shows you the cumulative, plus in-game, stats for that player (and pitcher). Tha app then would maintain actual stats (adding in-game stats to the downloaded numbers).

If you have any more specific questions, let me know.

jd,

How and when are you using iScore? In some sort of professional capacity? I like seeing the current average of the batter, too, but I am scoring MLB games I attend. This information is on the scoreboard throughout the game. As I said, I like the idea of tapping a player to see stats, but I wouldn't see this as a high priority, because a lot of this information is available at the game.

This information is available on MLB... what if the player roster could access the stats on MLB?

I'm just an iScore user, so I can't say what direction FTM will take our ideas. I just wanted to create some dialog.

Ben
I am just a user like you, scoring mostly MLB games. I mostly score games on TV or online, so I don't have immediate access to the info on the scoreboards, and sometimes I need to see this info, and it was so convenient just clicking the player. Also, when a player was at first, I could check his stolen bases/attempts, etc. Plus, you didn't have to enter rosters...

Ben,
Scorepad gives you all kinds of data at the click of a button. I use the desktop version when I'm home which you can customize as to what you want to see on the screen, ie. Pitchers 1st K to a batter % or when the baserunners are on base what the steals stats are appear (10-12) next to the runner. Scorepad is coming out with an iphone version shortly, however their customer service is quite poor. It took a day to hear back from them and their forum at their site is not working. The upside for iscore is why I'm hanging around.. The people running this software are soooooo responsive to their customer base and the software keeps getting better and better. :D

The thing I like about scorepad is loading the roster, it is almost instantaneous and I can do it live at a game, I tried that Friday with iscore and the -1 problem popped up again (I know this is fixed next update) and I was toast.. got behind and put the phone away.. :(

The other thing that people need to understand is that scorepad is quite expensive and the stats from MLB is a $59.00 per year subscription, this does include spring training however. The software is between $50 and $109 depending on what package you go with, so that fact that iscore is about $5.00 and is in the same discussion with scorpad is a tribute to the people running iscore!

FTMSupport wrote:Thank you for the feedback AngelsFan. We are going to be looking at expanding the product our to have similar capabilities (download MLB rosters) in the future. It is not our highest priority as we are really started the product being focused on youth leagues, high schools, colleges, etc... that are underrepresented with scoring applications right now, but there is no reason iScore could not be used for MLB as well (in fact, we know many customers have been doing so, and adding the ability to download the rosters would help with that).

If you can think of anything else that iScore does not have compared to the solution you are using on other devices, please let us know.

Thank you.

FTM ... use 3.0 do in app purchasing cough cough for MLB rosters ... 99cents a game or $10 for a season per team ... $20 for every MLB game ... you want $ ... that is how its done ... just a thought ... was going to be one of my features in my scorebook ;) ...
