end of game

Post by mblack » Mon Jun 28, 2010 11:13 am

It may have already been requested, or maybe I am doing something wrong, but can we get something to indicate the game has ended for the fans viewing the webcast ?

Many thanks

It does..

When you end a game on the handheld, the web iScoreCast will say
"THE GAME HAS ENDED"..

on your handheld, did you end the game or just exit? (ie did you Did you see "GAME OVER" over on your handheld?

If you need to end a game early (darkenss, time limit, Run rule, etc)
use MISC > END GAME

Not sure what happened on the two games I scored live, because looking at the data, it looks it is missing some action towards the end of each game. Maybe I lost the wifi signal towards the end of each game.

I assume you mean plays are missing on the iscorecast (not on the handheld).. If you iscorcast seems incomplete.. you can re synchronize the iscorecast server with your handled at anytime... even after the game has been scored..

on the handheld, while connected to a good internet connection, go to game manager, slect the game of interest, scroll down to the bottom of the game info screen, and select iScoreCast Synchronize.. This will update the iscorecast server with the information from your device .. ..

Yes, I am talking about plays that are missing in iscorecast. I am aware of the ability to sync after the fact, that is how I usually do it since not may parks have wi-fi. All of th egames that I have done the sync with have copmplete data, including the "game over " part. The two I have done live appear to be missing game data towards the end of the game. I did these two games at the Triple Crown Slumpbuster tournament in Omaha last week at the Council Bluffs fields. I noticed somewhere that somebody else was planning on attending this same tournament and using iscore. I am currious if they played at the same park and if they had any similar problems. Both games appear to be missing data after scoring them for approx. 1.5 hours. Maybe their router has some kind of setup that boots you off every 2 hours or so.

ok, so issue seems to have been identified and cause for error was 'loss of connectivity' . (sorry)

after the fact, when you reconnected and synched did it repair itself?

so for those reading the forum.. live streaming of course reguires a connection, start to finish, a good practice would be to verify at game end you still have live connection. if not, reconnect and manually synch for those remote users left "hanging". this will catch them up ...

P.S. I hope your team played well and had fun.. sounds like a neat tourney along side NCAA week...

Not 100% sure it was a loss of wifi. I never saw anything during the scoring of either game that indicated that. I am just throwing out possible causes. That is the only time I have ever done a complete game live webcast, so I am not sure if is a wifi related problem, or iscore related problem. I have not done a sync on the games yet to verify that it filled in the rest of the game.

ok.

you started the post wanting a "game over message" in iscorecast.. My first point is , That already exists. issue resolved. (You said you have manually synched many games before the two live games with the missing endings.. have you proven to yourself on those games, the game over message does exist)

For the two games that are missing the finish, yes, an interupted internet connection could cause that, also other reasons could be ....you inadvertently turned off iscorecast in options menu, or you inadvertently exited the game and/or app and when you came back into the again, you did not tap the upper left "synch" button before you hit play...

correct. The original issue, no end of game message, was reported to me by a viewer of the webcast. I took a quick look after the fact and verified that the game they were viewing did not have the message. I then posted what I though was an issue without doing futher research. After looking at it more, I noticed other data near the end of the game was missing and data from the end of the only other game I webcasted live was missing as well, and am now simply trying to resolve what the cause was for this and a possible solution. At the time I started the webcasts, I had a good wi-fi signal, and a fully charged battery. I did not exit the app at any time during the webcasts, or change any of the settings during the webcasts. I pm'ed another member that was there and using the same setup, and he said that the field he was on had a weak wi-fi signal so he did not attempt the live webcast. By what you are saying, I guess the only thing left that could have been the problem is that the wi-fi signal was lost at some point. Maybe I need to start a new thread asking for an enhancement of "notification of lost wi-fi during webcast" if the signal gets dropped and how to make sure the webcast picks back up if the signal comes back.

mblack,
Any chance that the missing data was about the time you sent a pm to the other team parent, did you pm during both games?
