Time outs/Mound Visits
Time outs/Mound Visits
Any plans to add a offensive time out and defensive time out charting/tracking feature? This app was the reason I bought an iPhone and I must say you have not disappointed me. I never would have expected the energy that you folks put into listening to your customers and making your product better with each revision.

Re: Time outs/Mound Visits
We had this request one other time so it is on our list, but did not get a lot of "me toos" last time it was requested, so it has not been a high priority. If we start getting more requests for this, we can bump up the priority.
What would be the purpose of tracking the information? How would you expect to view it other than just being an "event" in the pitch by pitch listing? If it is just an event in pitch by pitch, you can actually use the Notes feature to just enter a note that says "offensive time out" or "defensive time out" or "mound visit".
Thank you.

Re: Time outs/Mound Visits
I use notes now to track this information. In fastpitch, the defensive team only gets 3 conferences per game. "official book" and the umpire are required to track this. On the 4th conference the pitcher must be replaced.
Something in the Misc menu with just a check-off & inning the conference happened would be great.
The problem with using notes is that it is hard to find the notes if the conference limit is challenged. Also hard to show an umpire which innings the conferences where help when you are trying to scroll through the pitch-by-pitch.
Anyway, here is my "me too".
Or a way to consolidate the notes on a single screen.

I think something to track mound visits would be a very good and useful addition to the app.

Re: Time outs/Mound Visits
The question we really have is say we do capture the mound visits and/or timeouts. Where would you expect to see that information? How would it be presented to be useful? If it is just the pitch by pitch, notes would be the same thing. If the request is to be able to view all notes from a simple list (instead of only in pitch by pitch), then maybe mound visits are just a note in that consolidated notes view.

Re: Time outs/Mound Visits
To me, ease of finding and referencing the information is most important. Notes is difficult because it is difficult to find them in any cumulative way (I've not heard of a consolidated notes view - maybe that would do the trick). I like the idea presented, of a new option in the Misc screen to track this.

Either way - in Misc view or a consolidated notes view.
Preference would be to have consolidated notes (two birds with one stone) - somewhere I could see each note (with the batter & inning info) that each note is attached to.
Maybe also ability to jump into the pitch-by-pitch from the note itself.
Note might be: Great Play (but due to time no additional information could be added) - jump to that play from the consolidated notes afterwards to either review the play or to expand on the note.
#16 Susie (3) Top of 2 - Great Play!
Top of 3 - Coaches Timeout #2
#8 Sam (4) Top of 4 - Don't miss up. {linking to this play might reveal a HR - on a change up that was a little to high.}
Bot of 5 - My timeout # 1
To take this one step farther - maybe add this consolidated information to the end of the scorebook PDFs - Maybe after the pitch charts.
Notes in the pitch-by-pitch are impractical (IMO) just because of the effort required to find them. I enter them because they contain useful information, but they are difficult to find after a game without reviewing the game pitch-by-pitch again.

We do intend to add the notes to the scorecard in the future, and they are actually pretty usable in the Play by Play available on the Admin Website as well.

Re: Time outs/Mound Visits
My idea was maybe as a button on the Misc. Menu. Add a "Time/Conf." Button. The next option would be would be "Offense" or "Defense" with some sort of graphic or chart to show that games activity in that game for Home and Visitor.
In HS BB the Off gets 1 TO per inning and the Defense gets 4/game. Any conf when the pitcher is removed does not count to the total.
While on the Misc. menu what is the value/purpose of the "Assign Error" buttton? I have never seen casue to use this. Where or when would this be used?
Again, this is purely consrtuctive. I love the product. Thanks.

Re: Time outs/Mound Visits
The most often used case for "Assign Error" is an error on a foul ball (i.e. player drops something in foul territory that should have been caught).
