Youth Baseball enhancements

Post by btrammel » Mon Apr 19, 2010 8:55 am

Used the iScore on my iPad this weekend and loved the app! However, the below suggestions would make it more user friendly for Youth Baseball..
1. Consider adding an option for maximum number of runs per inning or add a small button to END INNING on main screen so that you don't have to go to the options button to end the inning.
2. Pitch counter onscreen for running totals.
3. Game clock - time remaining.
4. Modified Coach Pitch - Player gets 6 pitches from Coach and then 2 off tee. Not exactly sure about a suggestion here. We have been recording 2 strikes for every batter and then either recording a strike out or a hit in play. Obviously the number of balls is not important. Perhaps only a STRIKE OUT or IN PLAY option for batters in a MCP league and not worry about recording strikes. Open for suggestions.

Thank you for the suggestions.

For #2 - there is already a running total of pitch counts on screen. In the top section, you can scroll left/right to see either the scoreboard, or the view with the batters / pitcher info. This shows balls, strikes, and total pitches for the current pitcher.

For #3 - we will likely add a "run time" because we have gotten this request quite often. Time remaining has too many variables involved --- some leagues have rules like "no new innings after 80 minutes" or "game stops immediately at 100 minutes", and any number of options in between. So a "time remaining" really could not be defined, but we can show the amount of time that has elapsed since Play was pressed.

For #4 - again, the number of different rules surrounding this type of thing is enormous, and it is unlikely we will be able to include them all. Every local league at this young age adopts their own variations that makes accounting for all of them nearly impossible. What we do plan to do in the future is allow a way to say that the coach is pitching (some people put "Coach" in the game as a defensive player only), and allow some settings around things - walks allowed in the league? # of strikes for a strikeout? etc. Some of these weird variations would mean the Scorecard could not be used (i.e. there are only 2 squares for strikes on a scorecard), but we will see what we can do in future releases.
