Suggestion for easier League Manager and Balk
Suggestion for easier League Manager and Balk
First of all, I love this app!
My main suggestion is within the League Manager. I think it would be nice to have the ability to select/un-select each Named League in the list without having to go to the second screen, select on/off and then "back". I think it would be much easier to just toggle the check mark on and off from the list screen. The Edit button could still allow you to delete a league or take the user to an edit screen for a selected league.
My other suggestion is the location of the Balk. I was looking for it under "In-Play" -> more... I Finally found it under Misc. I suppose it's ok there now that I found it but seems out of place. In the process of hunting for it though, I realized that there is no way to cancel out of the "Assign Error" screen if you wind up in there accidentally.
Keep up the great work!
Thanks,
Dave

Re: Suggestion for easier League Manager and Balk
The iPad version actually does the "just check the boxes" approach in League manager. We will likely update the iPhone version to do that as well.
Balk is kind of an awkward one... it is not really "In Play" or an "Out", so that is why it is on the Misc menu.
With the Assign Error, if you go ahead and select an error, you can then click Undo to get rid of it, but we will come up with a way to cancel out as well.
Thank you.

Re: Suggestion for easier League Manager and Balk
FTM, if I may offer a suggestion,
In the options menu have a question pertaining to balks: Does a balk count as a ball on the batter? If the answer is yes, then when balk is pushed, add a ball to the count on the batter but not to the pitch count. IN all cases (regardless of whether the above answer is yes or no) bring up all runners to give them a chance to advance on the balk. Either that or add an additional question: Do runners advance on a balk? This fix should cover all rules in all leagues (Although technically the terminology in softball and little league (U12) is incorrect, it should still serve the purpose).

Thank you for the idea. When updating balks make it to the top of the priority list, we will keep your suggestion in mind.

FTM, while this is no longer an issue for me, I would think this is a pretty high priority for users who score Little League baseball - a huge potential market, I'd assume, especially when that market figures out this is an efficient pitch counter as well as scoring tool.
Re: Suggestion for easier League Manager and Balk
in assign error, does Shake to cancel not work?
FYI - for those that do not know, a couple versions back, FTM implemented a "shake to cancel functionality". when you find yourself in a place where there is not an undo or cancel button, try "shaking", it usually brings up a 'areyou sure you want to cancel screen'
Also, for what it is worth, echo the idea odf "check boxes" to enable/disable leagues in league manager, ( vs the second on/off screen) (tip to all users - use leagues liberally, they are great).
alsok, would like to see balks, stay in misc menu, (familiar with it there now).. and in time cover the good ideas bryan suggested

Shake to cancel does not work in assign error. It would actually take longer to shake the phone and confirm you want to cancel than it is just to click a player to assign an error to, then click Undo. Having a way to cancel when you accidentally go there is a good one though.

i am all for liberal use of cancel buttons. (agree shake to cancel is often slower than a cancel button if screen real estate is available).
