Weekend Stats

Post by webshowpro » Fri Jun 21, 2013 6:45 am

First kudo's to all the improvements - long time user and the app keeps getting better and better! I especially appreciate the USSSA team import!

My request is from the team screen to be able to generate stats by "league".

Right now, the way I handle stats is to create a new league for each season "MCBC 2013", then a separate league for each tournament. "2013 Liberty SNIT" for example. To get only the stats form the weekend game I have to back out, disable the "MCBC 2013" league,go back to the team page, select my team and email stats. Then back out return to the league section and turn the league that corresponds to the season stats back on.

Its kinda clunky -maybe there's a better way, but I have yet to figure it out. It would be nice to see a drop down of all the "leagues" a team plays in on the team page and select a stats button for that league/team combo.

Another request would be to add a "favorite team" flag, so your team(s) always show up at the top of the team lists. My "MCBC 2013" league has dozens of teams in it and scrolling is a bit annoying when looking for my team.

Along those same lines - if there was a "favorite team" concept, it could be used to enhance the new game screen. By having a "quick game" that preselects your favorite team.

Thanks again!

We have plans for improving the reporting for leagues similar to what you are mentioning.

For "favorite team", if you put a space character or an * or some other symbol in front of the name, it will sort first in the list. One issue with a single "favorite" is that many people score for multiple teams (multiple children, same child on multiple teams, etc), so really you just want to be able to sort a few to the top. Putting a symbol in front allows this.

For "quick game", it wouldn't know whether your team was home or visitor unless we added a choice for that as well. If your team is at the top of the list based on the above, then it is probably not really saving much time. It would also have the issue of multiple favorites as mentioned above, but we will add the suggestion to our enhancement list.

Thank you.

Here is a way i use leagues. to look at stat trends.. last game, vs last two , vs last three etc.

it is still a work around, but you May find it helpful

I made a league for Last game, last 2 games, last 3 games, last 4, last 5, last 6, .. Last 10

after a game i just go in and update games assigned to each league (check new and uncheck old) then can use leagues to see what trend.. clunky but i found helpful .

easier with 4.0 b/c you can now select games to include for a league right from league screen- easier than it was in 3.x

(I wish i had a league selector drop down menu in Team Stats. .but for now have to go to league manager to change filter. )

@Ohio - that sounds like a good (if tedious) method to trend. So that got me thinking of another "feature request" based on your concept.

How about a stats "filter". In the app you pull up your stats for any given league (i.e. arbitrary group of games). How about have a fixed "filter" menu that would allow a user to quickly select stats from a predefined set of SIMPLE filter options:
the last 5 games, 10 games, 20 games, 50 games, the last week, last month, etc.

These filters would then calculate the stats based on only that limited group of games. This would save having to turn on / off leagues for each game, which gets tedious and prone to error.

The latest version of iscore in both iOS and Android built on these member ideas and implemented a filter in Team Stats for trends ..

my old clumsy workaround is now not needed.

thanks FTM
