Substitution

Post by Sgsox » Wed Jun 12, 2013 6:24 am

It would be nice if, when i make a defensive substitution, that the change is automatically reflected in the batting order also. For example. When the ump comes to inform us of the changes, he often rattles off 3 or more sets of numbers "16 is in for 30, 26 is in for 13, and 4 is in for 42"... I can keep up for the first half, but I get behind when I have to enter the change for defence and offence separately. Thanks.

It is the way it is by design. The problem is, often as a scorekeeper, you dont know the corresponding change. iscore allows you to score it as you see it. Also, many users are using for youth leagues that bat all players. Defensive subs have no impact on offense.

Understood. I get it. For us scoring the higher levels though, having a toggle checkbox to "copy the substitutions to offence/defence" would be a time saving feature.

Thanks.

I have had the same issue. For what it is worth, I make a note as the umpire is telling me the numbers. Then I make the ump wait while I read it back to them. I either make the note on paper or insert a note into iScore for that play. That way, I have the exact message recorded that the ump told me recorded. If I fat-finger the substitution, I can always go back to my notes and fix it. Without the note if someone asks me what subs I was told, I have to hope I got it right the first time. Even if iScore makes the change you are suggesting, I still think it is good scorekeeping practice to note what you were told.

i like the tip petro guy gave . (not surprising)

but i do think it is time for green team to put on the iSCORE wish list. a toggle feature for "Paired" subs.. There is terrific rationale for the independent method we all know and use and "score as we see it". .but as the program has advanced in so many ways, and our kids have advanced.. I can see the time for a toggle setting in game options. (yes probably a big challenge to code, but hey, that is why there can be a version 5 some day)

Completely agree that this should be an optional setting. At least once a week this screws me up because I forget to change the subbed out player when they come up to bat.

catching up on old posts.. saw this ..

Looking for feedback from other veteran users.. should iscore consider a "paired" sub option to compliment the existing "free sub" - "score as you see it " model. or is it best to stay with what got us here .?
