5 run rule

Post by Torque » Mon Apr 22, 2013 4:40 pm

Hello
We play in USSSA Fast pitch in Iowa where we have a 5 run per inning rule it would be nice if you could
go to misc. and end the inning because of the 5 run rule that way it could also show up on the game manager
or is it already there and I am missing it

Thank You

There is an option under Misc. to end the inning but it doesn't give you an option as to why you're ending it. Of course you can always look at the box score of the game to see how many runs per inning were scored also.

I put in a note explaining why an inning ended early. I use an iPad on which I have created a shortcut so all I have to type in is rr and it brings up the text "Inning ended due to run rule." I have created several shortcuts such as cvm: "coach visiting mound" and pc: "pitching change"

Thanks All
I just think it would be a lot easier when you went to Misc. the end inning do to 5 run rule or something on that order

I also use a iPad and Larry that is a good ideal about the shortcuts I never thought of it I just think it would be a nice option

Thanks All

Update on the USSSA Fast pitch 5 run rule
we just had a game last night where we scored 2 runs R3 scored and R2 scored on a double so now we had R2 and next at bat hit a single to SS
so we had R2 and R1 next at bat hit a single witch loaded the base's next at bat hits a in the park home run so R3 - R1 all scored that batters run did not count as there was already 5 runs scored. Ok not a problem had to go to misc. and close the inning then our next at bat brought up the player that hit the homerun the inning before showing het at bat because I had closed the inning without doing anything with her the inning before.
I guess I don't know or see any way of getting around this without maybe showing her as a out???? But how do you charge and out to the player that just hit a in the park base's loaded homerun. Would it be to much trouble to take care of this on the next update it sure would be a great function to have added I know Iowa is not the only state to have a 5 run rule

In that case, for the girl that hit the IPHR, you can do this:
In Play
Hit Triple
Advance all runners who's run count accordingly. For the girls who score but exceed the 5-runs, select Safe;Home;Run Not Scored. Make sure you have MINIMIZE QUESTIONS set to NO in the Game Options screen so that it also asks you for the status of the batter so you can select Safe;Home;Run Not Scored for her as well. That'll clear the bases and keep your line up and score correct. Then go to Misc., End Inning.

Also, once you end the game you can go to the batting stats for your team and adjust her stats to reflect the HR. You can also add a note to the play either during or after the game.

Edit: Please note that I'm not trying to negate your request, but give you a work around for your problem.

Technically you should not be giving an IPHR when the runs call for the inning to end. In MLB, if there are bases loaded in bottom of the 9th with a tie score, and a batter hits a ball deep into the left field corner, the game ends when the runner crosses home plate and the batter reaches first base. The batter gets a single. That's it. That is the closest equivalent we have to an official ruling on stats for an inning ending hit due to runs.

While it might be nice to pad the stats and let additional runners score and let the batter have a multi-base hit, that is not the rule as far as we have seen in anything official. If you have an official rule somewhere that says otherwise, we would like to see a link to it.

If you would prefer, you could advance the runners before entering the home run and give them Run Not Scored, then enter the home run. But technically you are then negating the stat that the runner on third should have had for run scored and valuing the batter's statistics over the runner on third's statistics.

Mook

Thank you for your response that is a good way around it but after thinking about it the site Admin is 100%
correct as soon as the 5th run cross's home plate that's the end of the inning I will add I don't think it matters
if the batter gets to first base unless the batter is the 3rd out in which case the inning has ended anyways and to be honest
if I would have scored the batter a triple the bat order would have stayed correct and As Mook said changed it at the end of the game.

I want too thank all for the great work arounds and correct answers
REMEMBER DIG IN THE DIRT THE BALL IS THERE SOMEWHERE

Yeah. Admin's right on the $$$. Just didn't know if you were keeping track for the younger players who have fun with the HR stats. Just happy you have a workaround for the issue to keep things accurate and fun for your team!!!
