Strike out Called or Strike out looking

Post by BravesFan » Fri Apr 12, 2013 8:06 am

When a player strikes out, the screen asks us if it was a strike out 'looking', but when that batter comes back up, iScore indicates 'Kc'. I know it means 'Strike out Called', but it is a little confusing for those unfamiliar with iScore.
Could the option be changed to read, "Strikeout Called" for easier readability.

Thank you.

If we start hearing that a lot of people are confused by this, we will consider changing it. As of now, this is the first request we have had to change that label in the four years that iScore has been out, and we think it would cause more confusion to the existing customer base to change it now than it has caused with the current label.

We will follow this thread and see if others also make this suggestion.

Thank you.

I get what you are saying, but Ks and Kc follows the traditional scoring abbreviation:

@elcray - is that directed at our comment or BravesFan comment? We use Ks and Kc when abbreviations are used. We use simpler terms when accepting input from users and translate those things to baseball conventions where appropriate.

The choices given on the strikeout screen are actually "Strikeout Looking" and "Strikeout Swinging". This is what you see happening as a scorekeeper which is what we have always tried to focus our scorekeeping on ("score what you see").

Again, if people jump on this thread and tell us it is confusing, we will consider changing it. But as noted, in four years of having these labels, this is the first we have heard of any confusion. So if changing it is going to lead to more than 1 question in 4 years, it seems it might not be a good choice to change it.
