Catcher Data
Catcher Data
I'm wondering if it is possible, or how it could be possible, to get a count of how many pitches my catchers have received? I mean I know how many pitchers a specific pitcher has pitched, and I have a record of who was catching at that time. I know I could count it manually via the pitch by pitch data, but is there any way to get to it in a bit more automated fashion?

Re: Catcher Data
We do not have a stats for "catches received" but we will add it to our priority list for future prioritization.

Re: Catcher Data
Do you subtract wild pitches and passed balls.

Re: Catcher Data
That's actually what I am looking for. I want to come up with a "passed ball per catches received" value. Some catchers get more playing time than others. They will inherently have more passed balls because they see more pitches. When factoring in catches received, comparisons become linear. Another thing I am working on is passed balls on certain pitchers; to help pair up certain catchers for certain pitchers. Kind of like specialty catchers for knuckleballers.
Re: Catcher Data
Except right now unless a runner runs, there is no wild pitch or passed ball. It's just a ball. But that would be nice to have other types of balls.

Re: Catcher Data
The official definitions of wild pitch and passed ball require that a runner advance. Without the runner advancing, it is just a ball statistically.
As noted, we will add "catches received" to the list of stats for a future update.

Re: Catcher Data
In relation to my previous request about catcher data, it would also be beneficial to know how my runs were scored on passed balls.
Re: Catcher Data
Is there a way to track blocked balls in the dirt? With a younger team, this could be a useful stat to see which catcher is moving best behind the plate.
