Pitches swinged for each batter
Re: Pitches swinged for each batter
thecatsfan,
Let us know when you find a $10 product that does everything you're asking for.
I think the analytics add-on model is a perfect one. Users that want the features can choose to purchase them and those that dont need them arent paying for features that provide no value to them.
There are 1000's of iScore users that believe the product is a tremendous value for $10. You have passionate users and developers that work together to constantly improve the product.
You aren't convinced, that's cool. Good luck finding a better alternative. I don't believe it exists.

Re: Pitches swinged for each batter
We are not looking to be compared to other products. We continue to build out iScore based on user feedback and our own knowledge of the industry. We love the feedback as it relates to iScore itself (both good and bad) as it will help us enhance the product.
This forum is for support of iScore, so let's try and focus on what iScore can / can not do, and what we can do better in the future.
The iScorecast actually does show the type of pitch that was hit. Hover over any pitch in the iScorecast and it shows the details of that pitch.
Thank you for your numbered list of enhancement requests you would like to see for stats. This is the type of feedback that actually helps us improve the product.

Re: Pitches swinged for each batter
Don't blame me for bringing up other products. Both CSThunderCoach and mrprusak asked me what products I could find for $10 that would do what I wanted. So I answered the question. Your other forum users seem to think iScore is the only app that scores games.
Although I must point out to mrprusak that it is not a $10 app that does what I need. It is free! Just so everyone knows, FTM edited my posts when other users asked me what app would do what I asked. They obviously want the forum users here to continue believing that only iScore exists. I am glad mrprusak thinks spending hundreds of dollars per year to get basic anayltics is such a bargain. I have already found a better alternative.
So, FTMSupport, you are saying that I need to manually go and watch every game that I scored in a Scorecast window, and stop the playback on every pitch that gets hit, and then I can see what the pitch type was? Wow, how is that useable data at all. I would be better off going back to charting games by hand. That is not a viable solution at all. That is just confirmation that iScore cannot give me the data I was looking for.
Bottom line is I was pushed to use iScore by our team coach, but frankly, I have found it more and more lacking compared to the competition. I have provided a list of things I think it is lacking that are available in other apps for free. Are you planning to include any of those functions in your application any time soon?

Re: Pitches swinged for each batter
Oh and just to point out, FTMSupport said "We show the data in pitch by pitch listings, in the iScorecasts, and in several reports." Then when I ask them exactly how to find the data in question - what pitch type was hit - in the pitch by pitch, or in any report, they changed their answer and now it can only befound in the Scorecast - and even that is unconfirmed.
I am not going to sugar coat it because this is your forum. I am less and less impressed with this product every time I use it. Telling me that I can spend way more money on someone else's product to get the basic information I need is a complete copout. iScore is starting to remind me of all other iProducts - simple and dumb.

Re: Pitches swinged for each batter
We do not think our users believe that are no other programs out there... this is the information age and it is very easy to do a google search or search the markets to find any application you want. There are plenty of programs out there. All have different advantages and disadvantages. None are free. We can talk about how some move the costs to different places, but none are free. The bottom line is all the companies need to make money to stay in business, and there are different business models to do so. Discussing other products and the associated costs or advantages / disadvantages of those products does not help iScore users however.
This forum is for discussing iScore. If you want to discuss other products, that can be done in other forums that are either not for specific products (i.e. forums about baseball / softball / etc), or in the forums of whichever product you are more interested in.
We will never be the only solution for everyone, and that is fine.
We appreciate your list of things that you think iScore is lacking ... that is very helpful to us in making iScore appeal to more people with different ways they want to use the product. We will always have offerings that our partners can provide (Edge, TruMedia, StatFame, etc), and we will also continue to expand our core product as well.
Actually just about every stat you listed in your email is already in our next major product update. We usually do not pre-announce features because it really does not serve a purpose as then we get the barrage of questions on when the next release will be available. We are not a date driven company. We release each version when it is feature complete and has been tested as best we can. The features that go into each major release are usually driven by this very forum. So as noted, we appreciate your feedback (both good and bad) when it relates directly to iScore itself.
Thank you.

Re: Pitches swinged for each batter
In response to your follow up post, you gave broad examples of data you were looking for, and we answered in a broad way that data is available in many different places. Not all data is available in all places as it does not make sense for it to be in all places.
When you gave a specific question, we gave a specific answer.
And yes, we do try and keep things simple like other iProducts, so thank you for seeing that. Apple has built quite a sound little business with this philosophy.

Re: Pitches swinged for each batter
If your "free" product really did 90% of what you want, why are you on this board?
I suspect, the answer is because iScore is superior in most respects, and you recognize that as well.
