Re: Notes on scorebook
The Pitch by Pitch listing shows the full details of every player involved in the play, actually showing names and numbers of the players involved as well as positions. There is nothing more complete than the pitch by pitch listing.
We can not show every single detail in every report --- that is why there are different types of reports available. They show more/less detail in various formats.
We will be adding notes to the scorecards in a future update. Everyone so far has responded that showing Inning, Player at Bat, and the text of the note is enough, so we will do that.

Re: Notes on scorebook
You are correct. The pitch-by-pitch does - but is only available on the device. The play-by-play (which is what we can really share) does not.
Give me the ability to export the pitch-by-pitch report and you wont have to change anything.

It would be enough for me - that would be great! Thanks.FTMSupport wrote:Everyone so far has responded that showing Inning, Player at Bat, and the text of the note is enough, so we will do that.

@CSThunderCoach - The pitch by pitch is available on the iScorecast which also has notes... send the link to the iScorecast of the game and people will have the full details.

Re: Notes on scorebook
Just wanted to say "thanks" for the notes implementation. I am adding more notes now that they are coming out on the scorecards.
Re: Notes on scorebook
I just tried out the notes feature again, and the report on the scorecard looks great! I really love the continuous incremental improvements!
I have one minor quibble: the pitch count seems to report the post-play count instead of the count just prior to the play. What I mean is that if a batter has a 3 ball, 2 strike count, then hits, when I put a note on that play, the reported pitch count is now 0, 0 (as if it is reporting the pitch count of the next batter). When a play happens, I am interested in what the count was immediately before the play.
Note that I have not tested this by entering a note during a live game - I only went back to a game and added a note to the play-by-play. If this result is limited to adding a note later, then it is a very minor issue, but I still believe that it is not the desired result. If I see a note with a 0, 0 pitch count, I believe that the note was entered after the plays from the previous at-bat completed, but before the first pitch to the next batter.
Compared to the over all notes report, this is a very minor complaint - it just caught my eye, and wanted to be sure to report it.

Re: Notes on scorebook
When you enter a note during the game, it gives you the option to attach it to the previous or subsequent play. If you are adding after the game via pitch-by-pitch editing, I don't know if it gives you that option. Maybe you just need to back up a play to enter your note and it will attach to the play you intended.

Re: Notes on scorebook
Look in your pitch by pitch and see if the count shows the same in that play description. That is the same logic we are using here. If it does not match, let us know.

Re: Notes on scorebook
To quickly answer the notes question, the pitch count in Pitch by Pitch matches the count in the attached note. So, this is not a bug, but there might be a philosophical or preference issue.
When s a play is recorded in Pitch by Pitch, for example: a 4-3 ground out, the text describes the play and the batter, but reports the score, number of outs, and pitch count that applies after the batter is retired. This isn't really a problem in the Pitch by Pitch, as I read it as line 1: "Where are we in the game: score, outs, count", then line 2: "What was the last action to get us here: (e.g.) 4-3 ground out", then line 3: "Who was involved in the play: batter, pitcher". Read that way, I don't mind that the count of 0/0 doesn't go with the listed batter (who had 3/1, then was out).
On the notes, however, the top line is Batting, Pitching, Count. The next line is the play, then the scorekeeper's note. When I read this, I get a different flow. I read this as the setup: "who is batting, who is pitching, what is the count" (before the play), then the play: "batter grounds out on throw from second to first", then the note: "Unusually short hit for her". Reading this way, the count implies that she hit the first pitch. Of course I can look at the score card to see that she actually hit the 4th pitch, but if I have to do that, then having the count included in the note is either useless or misleading.
I think the issue is that for any pitch where the batter does not advance or get put out, the count in the Pitch by Pitch is correct and useful. When a batter does advance or get put out, the count is technically correct, but not useful, as it refers to the next batter. This fine for Pitch by Pitch, but when translated to the notes, the lack of context makes it confusing.
