Adding 10th batter in the middle of a game?
Re: Adding 10th batter in the middle of a game?
I purchased the app today in part because I want to support what you are doing and also because I hope your program will eventually fully support the functions my league requires. Our parent organization is the MSBL/MABL which has over 45,000 members who play by these same rules nationwide. Thanks again!

We eventually do hope to support every variation (even wiffle ball as one customer keeps requesting). It is just a matter of prioritizing all the requests.
Thank you for your support.

Re: Adding 10th batter in the middle of a game?
Had a chance to finally play around with the software today and here are my impressions and concerns:
The program is amazing. I am very pleased with its functionality and even feel like my concern regarding extra batters and shared lineup slots is addressed fairly well with the skip batter and pinch hitter options in the program. However, one thing it won't do is allow me to have the option of using a batter as a pinch hitter when he's already in the lineup. While your response is probably "duh", I must again state that my league allows lineup adds AND shared lineup slots so i need the flexibility to decide whether or not i'm going to use either option in the middle of the game. For instance, I might declare spot 10 as a shared spot at the beginning of the game. However, my team might take a huge lead and i might decide that instead having guys share spots I would rather lengthen the lineup by adding to the bottom of the order. If i've already gone through the original lineup once your software won't let me add that other batter now. While this isn't a common problem it has happened on more than one occasion. I really hope that a legitimate add to the order function comes to iScore; a lot of men's leagues need it.

Re: Adding 10th batter in the middle of a game?
We have added this to our list for prioritization. I believe you can sort of do this if again, you leave spots at the end of the lineup. The way it would work is to first substitute for the player that is sharing a spot in the middle of the lineup that you want to move to his own spot. Then go back to the scoring screen. Then go back in to the substitute screen and you should be able to put that player in one of the "extra" spots you had reserved at the end of the lineup. To do this successfully, your lineup will likely just need to have a few "ghost players"... you can call them "Extra 1", "Extra 2", "Extra 3", etc... and sub for them just like you would for a real player.
Hope this helps.

Great suggestion! It's a bit crude, but it will definitely get the job done until you guys integrate lineup adds into the software.
Re: Adding 10th batter in the middle of a game?
Support,
I used the program to score our game today and I can confirm that it can already do lineup adds. Anyone not playing simply needs to be activated to hit (batting=Yes) and added to the bottom of the order. It's that simple. It works at any point throughout the course of the game regardless of whether or not the lineup has flipped. Just thought I should let you know.
One thing that I was disappointed with was how the program automatically changes the hitting order of your lineup whenever you try to make defensive substitutions. In our league defensive substitutions are completely independent of the offensive lineup. This proves especially troublesome when you have a pitcher that starts and hits, but is replaced by a pitcher later in the game that doesn't hit at all. Perhaps I'm doing it wrong, but I could not figure out a way to bring in defensive subs without the program wanting to replace the person in the lineup as well.
Also, I think your software double charges the defense on errors. For instance, when you have to tell the software that a batter reached on error and a runner advanced on the same error it seems to charge two errors on the same play. Is there a different way I should be scoring this? Also, how should we score the advancement of runners on throws made to different bases? Plays like when an outfielders attempts to throw a runner out at home and a runner advances from second to third on the throw? I didn't see an "advanced on throw" option.

Re: Adding 10th batter in the middle of a game?
For the offensive vs. defensive only substitutions, we think you will like the v2.0 release that allows you to easily make offensive or defensive only changes.
On the errors, as long as they all happen in the same "play sequence", it should not be double charging even though you may have to indicate the error for multiple players advancing on the play.
