Miscellaneous Questions and Requests
Re: Miscellaneous Questions and Requests
i am a bit late to this thread will read and respond to all in more detail..
.. but first tomV, which device are you using? , and what version of iscore.
second, Stats Order
there is most definitely a logical order for sort ...
on iOS device,
in game manager,
the primary sort is
batting line up position
pitching by entry order
fielding by line up
in team manager,
primary sort order is....
batting by Avg (high to low)
fielding by FP (high to low)
pitching by ERA (low to high)
on the team web site
default sort ifor statistics
batting by Avg (high to low)
fielding by FP (high to low)
pitching by ERA (low to high)

Re: Miscellaneous Questions and Requests
In game manager, the batting stats and fielding stats are not in batting order. It lists our last batter first, she has been our last batter for all 9 games we have played this all-star season. I added her to the team first because she is the manager's daughter. My daughter lists second, but has not batted second in any of those 9 games on the team. I added her to the team roster second because I knew she was on the team. Every game shows those stats in the same player order and do not match the lineup order on the scorecard. We are an all bat league.

on original post -
#1 - ideas for a few less keystrokes for a brand new team and new players, a way to reduce some of the interim repeat strokes. good idea for developers to think on.
#2 - where to position the 10th fielder.
iscore puts the OF other fielder, F10, between center and right fielder. this more or less aligns with NFHS softball rules but not the more prominent ASA rules for softball. a solid argument could be made that ASA convention is more broadly accepted but I am not sure iscore can change it at this point with out messing up history. (FTM can weigh in here)
references for two different governing bodies view on this.
high school rules put it as a short fielder, behind second baseman and between 8 and 9.
NFHS (rule 3-1-5 diagram 5)
Key: 1-Pitcher; 2-Catcher; 3-1st Baseplayer; 4-2nd Baseplayer; 5-3rd Baseplayer; 6-Shortstop; 7-Left Fielder; 8-Center Fielder; 9-Right Fielder; 10-Short Fielder (S.P.); U- Umpire.
ASA for both modified fast pitch and slow pitch would put player 9 as right center, and player 10 as right field (this is probably a more universal rule set than NFHS)
ASA (Rule 4 -1-c, 2c modified fast pitch, 3a slow pitch)
Ten Players as follows: pitcher (F1), catcher (F2), first baseman (F3), Second basemen (F4) Third basemen (F5) Shortstop (F6) Left Fielder (F7) Left Center Fielder (F8), right center fielder (F9) and right fielder (F10)
#3 - already covered by Dan
#4 - If your stats are not showing up in game manager in batting order. for games played (and finished). (not scheduled). Here is a trick. go to pitch by pitch. Make a sub in starting line up, and then save and exit, (forces an internal recalculation) then go back and fix batting order )pitch by pitch game starts edit starting line up).
did that solve it?

Re: Miscellaneous Questions and Requests
Lets trouble shoot #4. because that is not normal and we should be able to correct that for you.. (may take some trial and error as i can not replicate the issue on my end)
Ok, you are iPad v 3.16.
Are your games showing finished (F) in the Game Manager 'scoreboard list? If not make sure and finish them. (misc end game if needed from scoring screen)
go to a problem game, go to pitch by pitch, game starts, edit starting line up.
reordered the first two players. Save and exit. Then go back and reorder them correctly. see if that fixes it.. It is strange that they were appearing out of order . the idea here is to re force internal sortation calculation. Let us know if that works. if not will try some other idea.

Re: Miscellaneous Questions and Requests
OhioTex, my games are all finished/ended. When I do your trick in pitch by pitch it does re-sort the stats by the lineup. I normally have the team roster in batting lineup order before creating the game. I do not schedule them ahead. When I created my All-Star team, I added them all from the existing player list as they all played during the spring season and I had already scored games with their teams during that season.
Re: Miscellaneous Questions and Requests
I have an iPad(1) with iScore 3.16.162. I just loaded it about a week ago. I don't know the ins and outs of iScore well enough to try what you're saying, but I see from Aimee's post that my batting stats order is not unique.
Re: Miscellaneous Questions and Requests
Aimee are you saying the trick help you and you are all ok now. ?
is the rest of your post just trying to explain what you did??. if so thanks, but the bottom line is i do not know why this happens sometime. just how to solve when it does.
TomV - the fix is easy, ( the reason why it happens is not known yet (and not frequent))
how to..
Tap...
Game Manager
Desired Game
Pitch by pitch
Game starts
edit Starting Line up
Home/visitor
drag a player up and another down to mix up order (three row icon right of name)
save/exit.. then redo and correct.

Re: Miscellaneous Questions and Requests
That worked. However, I have a "Done" button rather than a "Save/Exit" button on the Edit Starting Lineup screen. But it worked. I did it for each game and now the batting starts are in batting order for that particular game. Will this keep happening or will it work correctly from now on?

Re: Miscellaneous Questions and Requests
Try reordering your ROSTER for the team before creating your next game and see if that keeps it from happening again in the future.

Re: Miscellaneous Questions and Requests
At the time I scored the games in question, I didn't know about the lineup options and set my lineup by re-ordering my roster before each game. So, I'm not sure that will work, but I'm willing to try.
