Miscellaneous Questions and Requests

Post by tomv » Tue Jun 14, 2011 8:21 pm

After a heavy weekend getting into iScore, I have a few questions and requests:

1. When adding players to a team's roster, as you have to do for a team you're playing for the first time, it seems like you have to do a lot of tapping to do the job. You select "Add a Player", then "New Player", then you have to click in the First Name field. It would save a click if the cursor was already in the First Name field. Following this, you have to hit Done which takes you back to the Roster screen and do it all again for the next player. It would be nice if you could make multiple entries on the same screen.

2. With a 10 player defense the fielders from left to tight are marked as Left Field, Center Field, Other Field, and Right Field. And the players are numbered from left to right as 7, 8, 10, 9. The people I have talked to who keep score for the team refer to the outfielders as LF(7), LC(8), RC(9), and RF(10). Is there a particular reason iScore uses the convention they do, or could you adopt the latter method listed here?

3. In the Scorecard when a runner is advanced by a batter, iScore shows "AB7", or "AB5", etc' I think it would be helpful if iScore listed the batting order numbers from 1 to whatever down the left side of the scorecard. This way you wouldn't have to count down the list to see who is batter 7 or batter 5.

4. In viewing the Team Batting statistics, I noticed that the order of the players names is not in the batting order for that game, nor is it in the order of the names in the Team Roster. It's not alphabetical on first or last names and it's not in uniform number order. But it is consistent over the three games I've scored for this team. I just can't figure out why it's in this order. I think the batting stats for each game should list the batters in the order they batted for that particular game.

Thanks for giving us this forum to make suggestions. You folks at FTM are doing a great job and your quick response to our questions is amazing. If only all support organizations were as responsive as FTM, all users of any product would be a lot happier!!!

1 When putting in the first roster for a team it does seem like a lot of taps but if you are adding to an existing roster it does seem too many. The order logic is good in that Add Player makes sense because you don't have the player in your data base yet. New player vs finding the player in your database makes sense. Once you score a season or two you would be surprised at how many players you choose from your data base and not use new player. Tap first name makes sense because in my experience I rarely get the players first name, mostly I get only last name and number. Additionally, it is not uncommon for me to get number only from the other coach.

2 JMO but I have only scored with the 10th player as the short fielder in the off center position.

3 When I view the scorecard PDF the batters are numbered in the player text box with a light gray number.

4 The order is determined by batting average

#1 - A BIG +1 for that! It would be really neice when choose the auto roster to have it go to a data entry screen where each player on the new roster was editable on the same screen. That would Save SOOO much time. I'm at tournaments where I don't get the line up until about 30 seconds before the first pitch. It takes 2 innings to get everything in place and caught up. A screen like that would save significantly!

#2 - I don't really need that functionality, but it seems like that could be addressed as a user preference at the same time you select the number of fielders.

#3 - I don't really utilize the scorecard all that much during games, so I'm at a +0 for this one.

#4 - When i look at my stats they are in the batting order (except subs)...

#2. I use the numbers as are. I like the standard 1-9 then extra fielder is 10.

#4. When on Game Manager, the players appear to be listed in the order they were originally added to the team. From the Team Manager it is batting average. I'd prefer the Game Manager to be either batting order or batting average The order I input them into the roster could be completely arbitrary (and has been). I'd much prefer some reason to the order.

#2 +1 This is how my team scores on paper on my adult co-ed softball team. Its kind of confusing because when you see the players in the field in iScore the 10th fielder is shown at RC, would be nice when specifing the number of players in the options if the 10th fielder is a rover, shortfield, or RF( indicating a LF LC RC RF outfield)

#3 +1 , For some reason when I view the pdf on my computer the line up batting position numbers are not visible, but they are there when I print.

On the pdf the numbers are light, but there on mine. Look on the right 1/3rd of the player text box.

My batting statistics are most definitely not listed in batting average order. I just checked the emails that I sent from iScore and in all three games the order listed is the same for each game. The averages are quite different for each game. So batting average is not the order my batting stats are listed in.

I like the suggestion that naming and numbering the outfielders in a 4 man outfield be an option at setup time.

I misread your post, I assumed it was referring to the default order on the website.

I just checked my scorecard and the only numbers that appear are the players jersey numbers not the batting order numbers.

Sorry, for my last post. I just re-checked my scorecard and saw the very light batting order numbers posted just to the right of the players' names.
