Pre-assigned fielding question/issue
Pre-assigned fielding question/issue
I think it is great that I can now pre-assign fielders. It has made my fielding stats finally useful (I coach a youth softball team and there was simply never time to do all the substitutions between innings, so I got great batting stats, but no real fielding stats).
My question or possible issue is that, once the game starts, I am not able to find my fielding table again. This is particularly troubling when I need to know who is catching next inning so that they can start suiting up after 2 outs or so. Am I missing it somewhere? If not, can this be added? A simple way to do it would be to have the current and next fielding assignment next to the batters name in the line up (if the positions differ).
Thanks.
Joe

Re: Pre-assigned fielding question/issue
you are not missing it. at this time it is only a pre game table.
but the idea you raise has come up before and is on FTM list for consideration.
both in game access and editing.
Side note: the pre positioning table was new in release 3.0 so not very old. there has not been a major release since then (bug fix/minor tweaks yes but not a major new feature release . .but FTM says they are working on next version, and they historically keep timing and feature inclusion under wraps till they are totally done and submit to app store.
keep posts like this of what you want to see coming next, FTM does take the input to in its prioritization

We will be adding the ability to view and actually make edits as well after the game starts in an upcoming release.

Re: Pre-assigned fielding question/issue
Any idea when this is coming to the Android version? This is the main reason I can't use iScore right now. Our season is half over and it just takes too much time to change the positions manually to match my plan in between innings and coach third base at the same time.FTMSupport wrote:We will be adding the ability to view and actually make edits as well after the game starts in an upcoming release.

We do not currently have a timeframe set, but you can always make the defensive changes for your team when they go into the field. It is pretty quick to bring up the substitution screen and make the changes. It can usually be done while the opposing pitcher is throwing their warmup pitches. It also does not need to be done immediately as the only time it really has an impact is when the player is making a play... so you can do it over the course of a few batters if needed.
If you miss the substitutions, and you actually had a sheet you pre-plan the positions from (the only way the pre-positioning is useful anyway), you could actually make the defensive substitutions post game if you really just don't have time to do it during the game. You could go to pitch by pitch, and make the substitutions at the appropriate pitches and all stats will automatically be updated.

Cool. I didn't know that the stats would update. +1 for this feature. This app is a truly GREAT scoring app! When used with youth players, it's usually the coach who does the scoring and adding a feature like this will make it so much easier for a coach to use during the game. I'm anxiously awaiting the next release (any target date?)
I like profjoe's idea of seeing current and next inning's defensive player next to the current one. However, I often plan/make my defensive changes while my team is at bat. I'm HOPING to be able to access a table very similar to the pre-assigned fielding setup at anytime during the game--and be able to make changes for any future inning. Even better, have a button to bring up my defensive positions anytime--let me select the INNING and make substitutions the 'usual' way!
Another feature that would make this even more helpful for coaches of young teams is to show how many defensive innings each team member is scheduled to play/sit based on the pre-lineup. We're usually trying to balance equal fielding time with being competitive...and nothing is worse than getting to the last inning of a tight game and realizing that three young/newer players have already sat the max innings . . .
GREAT APP! Thanks!

Re: Pre-assigned fielding question/issue
Has this feature been rolled out yet? Specifically, I'm looking to access the pre-set fielding positions during the middle of the game. It always seems like a kid gets hurt or sick and then all of the future inning pre-sets need to be reworked on the fly during the game.

Yes, on iOS devices you can access the preset fielders at any time by going to Misc -> Show Starting Lineup -> Options -> Preset Fielders.
When things don't go according to plan, you can always do a normal substitution as well.
