Emailing play by play
Emailing play by play
Wow, this app just keeps getting better and better. I love the game record, pitch by pitch narrative. It doesnt appear you can email it though. That would be very helpful. It would also be good if we could have the option of including pitch by pitch or play by play.

Yes, we will be adding those capabilities with 1.70. We just threw in the pitch by pitch as part of 1.65 because we had the other issues to include, so thought some users may appreciate the pitch by pitch.
Thanks for the suggestions.

do you think the next release will include emailing capability for either pitch-by-pitch or play-by-play?

Re: Emailing play by play
We do not currently have that added. One of our concerns with ptich by pitch is the sheer size of the data. When you email all the optional things you can email as it is, it can already be several 100KB, or even 1MB of data. That is getting pretty large for email attachments. We have several options now for getting to that data from off the device (Play by Play is available from the Admin website, Pitch by Pitch through the iScoreCast, and of course the optional Team and Player Spotlight sites as well).
Not saying we will not do it, but still trying to focus on getting the things out that don't have alternative ways of doing them (Data Sharing being the #1).
Thank you.

Re: Emailing play by play
absolutely understand the concern on email size, but that is why you have options to toggle which files to email and not, and on a wifi connection a few hundred k (or 1-2meg) email is no trouble.
That said, (and for those reading) Yes, we can get to the play-by-play from the admin (or team site) and you have made that easy to cut and paste from the web page into email programs (many many thanks). But I do not believe there is a similar way to get the pitch-by-pitch information out of the handheld.. is there? yes we can view it in iscorecast or read it on the device.. but we can not cut and paste and print it out or embed in an email like we can play by play. (or did I miss that?)
I know that data sharing and multi device is high on request and priority list (and i presume quite complicated to code) and i am looking forward to it!!! but it would seem creating the option to email pitch-by-pitch would be very easy to code and quick implement. it was one of the first things requested when it came out last may (Coachbobs note reminded me of this). As discussed elsewhere on the forum, it is also a great relief and aid when re entering a game (by undo), while you continue to refine what can and can not be edited in pitch by pitch mode.
As always I am a huge fan of the product, the community and everything FTM has done and continues to do to advance this..
