Exporting data from one iPod touch to another
Exporting data from one iPod touch to another
I have been using my son's ipod touch to score games for his baseball team---we are about 10 games into the season. Low behold, my wife bought me mine own ipod touch. Is there a way to have all the data transferred from my son's ipod to mine so I can stop using his?

Yes. Export from both your device and his device (Options->Export). Then email us the customer ID of both devices (bottom left of Options screen) to support@fasterthanmonkeys.com and tell us which device you are transferring from and to. We can then move your data and your can import to the second device.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Re: Exporting data from one iPod touch to another
Just downloaded this yesterday and LOVE it! Great job!. My wife has it on her iTouch and I have it on my iPhone. How can we set it up so that we always have the latest data "synched". I am thinking somewhat like my iPhone synchs with Outlook back and forth. That way, if she scores a game on Tues and then I am going to score the game on Wed, I would have all the latest data on my device. Would I be waiting for someone to manually do this every time, or will the customer id change on my device?
I am thinking that it would be nice to have the ability import a specific team from the servers as long as you have the customer id and password. We have 2 other coaches on the team that have iPhones and will be buying this app, but it would be nice if we all had the same data synched from a central website. We will also be getting the team website. One click and instant stats are HUGE! I do want to make sure that after the scorer (whoever that may be for the game) scores the game, the head coach can review and make any changes if mistakes were made.
Thanks for a great product.

This will be coming in the next release. For now, we can transfer an entire database between devices for you. It will overwrite all data on the second device, but would allow you and your wife to take turns and get the data on both devices. To do that, run Export from the options menu on BOTH devices, then email us at support@fasterthanmonkeys.com with the customer ID of each device (bottom left of options menu), and tell us which to transfer from and which to transfer to. We will do the transfer, and email you back, and you can then Import on the second device.
Being able to sync individual games / teams is one of the things we are adding in the next release.

That is awesome, thank you! The game we had last night I was in the middle of showing it to my coaches and the opposing coach says, "you must be talking about iScore, that app is awesome! We've been working with it for 5 games now." Keep up the great work, word is spreading!
So in the next release, once the game is completed and let's say posted to the website, will the head coach have the ability to go right to that website and edit the play by play to make any changes or will it have to be done through the device with the app? The admin website doesn't really allow me to change the play by play unless I am missing something.

Re: Exporting data from one iPod touch to another
All scoring will still have to be done on the device. The admin website is just a supplement to help with certain maintenance things, but the scoring is on the device only.
Re: Exporting data from one iPod touch to another
ok thanks. If I post it to the website and the other coaches QC it and notify me of some errors to correct. I can correct on my device and then repost to the website, right?

Yes, that would be the way to do it.
Re: Exporting data from one iPod touch to another
We love this app. The info we had on other teams and our own kids helped us tremendously. Plus all of the parents love the printouts and stats.
Used it last year for one team and now our 10U competitive league is considering it. We are a small experimental league and would like to keep all kids stats for the 4 teams. As I understand from above posts, the only way to do this now is to have FTM combine the info from the two games each night, and that this ability to do it ourselves will be coming in a future update. Is that correct?
Thanks for the great product, it just keeps getting better.

Re: Exporting data from one iPod touch to another
Close... we can not currently "combine" data from separate devices. We can only transfer an entire database from one device to another (overwriting the data one the second device). But yes, the next release will allow you to combine / share data between devices all on your own.
