password recovery or reset

I lost an ipad mini that I was keeping the games from the beginning of the spring season. How do I use data sharing to transfer data from the old lost ipad mini if I don't remember the password? I did write the Customer ID number down but can't remember the password. Is there a way to reset it without having the iPad present?
