Email Game Information

Post by brentwalker » Sun Feb 28, 2010 5:54 pm

I really like the "email" option for game information. It comes into my email quite nicely but I cannot really do anything with it. I get all of the attachments, the .pdf file as well as all the .csv stats files. The two pieces of information I am interested in is the scorebook and the RTF stats information included in the body of the email.

I would like to see the RTF statistics information (boxscore, stats, etc) that is in the body of the email be sent as an HTML attachment opposed to RTFD. This would make it tons simpler to use and modify when adding this file to my son's team website. You can continue to send the RTF information but also include it as an HTML attachment.

As it is now it is very difficult to get it into HTML format from the RTF. Trying to recreate this file and reformatting is a nightmare and would take more time than just watching one of the games. Often we have 4-5 games in a weekend and I don't have that kind of time.

Your timing on this question is great... we are about to launch "iScore Team Websites" which actually completely automates this whole process. Every time you export from iScore, if you have a team website, the data is automatically updated. We have had some people beta testing the last few days, and will likely be launching the functionality tonight or tomorrow.

fyi... the HTML in our emails is actually raw HTML, and if you use an email program that allows you to "view as HTML", you can actually copy/paste directly from the email. Still not as easy as the Team Websites, and Team Websites add more functionality like a true Play by Play listing, but it is an option for those not wanting an iScore Team Website.

I tried copying the content directly from my email client (see attached for example). It did not come across as pure HTML. All of the formatting was gone. That is why I would like to see it sent as an attachment, something that I can save.

Ok, so there is no attachment option for this message. When I paste it into Dreamweaver I get no formatting, it comes across as ascii text. I have tried pasting it in both design mode as well as Code mode (straight HTML). Neither works.

I am using a MAC and the Mail application. Ok, so that seems to be the problem. I went to my webmail client and was able to save the message directly as a html file and then import it into Dreamweaver....walaa Not sure why the Mail application won't let me do it.

  I would still rather the file be an attachment as well as the embedded text in the email.

I look forward to the team site stuff. Would be nice if it could be located off of the iScorecentral location. There are already too many URLs to remember, iScorecast, iScorecentral and now a iScoreTeam Website?

The team websites are at the iscorecentral location, and are directly linked to from there as well. Watch for a link to appear on the "Teams" tab of your http://my.iscorecentral.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; link either tonight or tomorrow that will allow you to get a Team Website. We are not ready to "publicize" it yet, but a slow launch for people that know it is available through the Teams tab will help us ramp up slowly before the In App team websites that will be part of the next reelase.

Not sure either - I use a Mac and Mail and have had no problem copy/pasting the HTML from the emails into different programs.

brentwalker - perhaps a configuration settings in your mac mail program preferances are driving the problem.

if interested in the new team web sites.. go to your iscore central, login, go to teams tab and see a new column on the right side called "web site"

I too really like the functionality of the email after each game. I keep the score and stats and pass along to coaches. How can download this info into and excel file and have it add to the existing info?

iScore will automatically calculate cumulative statistics for your teams. Just go to Team Manager, touch the team you want the statistics for, then you can click Email to get full team stats emailed to you. It will email the stats in HTML as well as CSV format (which can easily be imported into Excel or any spreadsheet application).

You can also get individual game statistics by going to Game Manager, touching the game you are interested in, and clicking email from there.

Ok, so lets talk about the team websites and pricing. It is 20 dollars a site, annually. So for my son, he will play for the high school team for three years, which I am assuming would be four sites (2009, 2010, 2011), thats $60.

Then during the summer, he plays for two select baseball teams which would be another 3 sites a piece ($60 + $60).

Just to see the websites that my son plays on that would be $180+ dollars? Surely there is a better pricing model?

Team #1 - High School (three seasons, 2009, 2010, 2011)
Team #2 - Rays Select Baseball (three summer seasons, 2009, 2010, 2011)
Team #3 - Tribe Select Baseball (three summer seasons, 2009, 2010, 2011)
Pick-Up Teams where he is asked to play

I am capable of creating a website and can do HTML. Most hosting options these days are anwyere from Free to $10 dollars. My hosting service is $6.50 annually.

Can you describe the user pattern/usage for the scenario described above accounting for the least amount of cost to me?
