What does SH stand for on the scorecard?

It is when the batter is Safe on a Sacrifice Bunt.

Why would you not just score that as a bunt hit? Is there a statistical difference?

If it was in fact a hit, then a bunt hit should be recorded. Sacrifice Safe would be like if they try and make the play at Second and don't throw it there in time. The batter still gets a sacrifice in that case (it is not a fielder's choice and not a hit).
