Intrasquad - Players who play for both teams

Scoring an intrasquad game and I have reviewed the FAQ on the website that states the following:

How can I score an intersquad game?

When scoring a game where you choose the same team as both the home and visitor team (an intersquad), you must make sure that there are no players listed in the visiting team lineup that are on the home team and no players listed on the home team lineup that are on the visiting team. This means that when you create a game and go into the lineups for the game, you should delete any players listed under the home team that are actually on the visiting team and vice versa. Deleting players from the Lineup will not affect the roster for your team. As long as you make sure there are no duplicate players between the home and visiting lineups for a game, your stats should all be correct.

To fix an existing game, select the game from Game Manager, press "Pitch by Pitch / Edit Game", press the first item that says Game Starts. press Edit next to "Starting Lineup" and make sure there are no duplicate players between the home and visitors. The stats for each player should then be correct.

Is there a work around for players who play for both teams during an intrasquad? In our example, we had pitchers who pitched 3 innings for each team and then switched teams. Can we do anything to get the stats right for them?

not to my knowledge. iScore is not designed for that.

that said..

I assume you want to keep the stats from inter squad games "for informational purposes" and separate from "official league/season totals". If so, here is the best i can suggest .. forewarned, It is cumbersome .. you will have to assess to what effort is it worth having intersquad stats.

so what i think i would do is create multiple versions of players designated inter squad. (eg Joe Smith (league), joe Smith on Squad Grey, Joe Smith on White Squad.)

i create a game with Two inter squad teams ( eg Gray Squad and White squad ) , neither being normal name (eg Raiders Varsity). I would also put game in a special "intersquad" league, . Populate both grey squad and white squd rosters with special versions of player (and make note to not merge them later). so for normal player , joe Smith would have a new special player called Joe Smith (squadGray - do not merge) and Joe Smith (Squad White - do not merge) .Score the game,

you can consolidate the stats off line manually or create a dummy game and manually combine using stats over ride.

If you have a team web site and want the stats to show up on it, you would also create a fake game with Raider Varsity as the team vs a Dummy team. Raiders Varsity would have normal roster Joe Smith et al, and Raiders Varsity just needs one dummy player. Score a play and end the game. then manually go in and add the stats from the inter squad game to the normal roster players. . yes this is cumbersome and not easy. you just have to decide the value of including the stats or not.

We responded to this same question in your email as well...

There is not a "perfect" way to track the stats for a player that plays on both teams as that is not really a valid baseball game that would generate official stats. We understand you would like to track the stats in this case however, so there are two options:

1. Go ahead and put the player on both teams. The stats will have a few oddities (for example, it will register as two games for the player as they played on both the home + visitor team).

2. Create a second version of the player, and put that player on the second team. If the player's name is "John Smith", create a "John Smith 2" or something like that for the second team. The stats will be tracked independently, and you would know that anyone with a "2" at the end is a player that is appearing on both teams in the same game.
