What's the rule please....
Line drive that is barely foul first baseman inside the line glove in foul territory ball goes off tip of glove. Fair or foul?

Not an umpire, just followed traveling softball for 9 years, but I think it is where the ball is when it touches the glove. If the ball is in foul territory then it is a foul. If the ball is in fair territory when it touches the glove and then goes foul it is a fair ball.

Thanks that what we thought but two blues said because she was in fair territory when she touvhed the ball it was fair... thanks for thr replies..

I'm not sure what happens at other levels, but I commonly attend AA MiLB games and have noticed the umpires help you out in making the fair/foul call on a line/fly out. They'll point towards fair or foul territory after the catch on close ones.

And I agree with the posts above...I believe the umps in your case were wrong. Player position isn't what matters...the position of the ball is. On an out, it doesn't make a huge amount of difference. If it's tipped & falls to the ground, it becomes really important.
