Scoring throw down to 2nd or 3rd

Scoring throw down to 2nd or 3rd

Do you (or how do you) record a throw down to 2nd or 3rd base when the runner is attempting a steal from 1st or 2nd? Is it a pick off attempt - catcher to SS or 2nd (whoever is covering) or catcher to 3rd, or is it assumed that a throw down was made if a stolen base was scored.
