ERA stats

Post by Stieb » Wed Oct 03, 2012 9:55 am

I am still confused after reading the posts. I scored my daughters softball game last night and her era appears to be wrong. She pitched 3 of of the innings played and 1 run was earned. Iscore has her era as 3.0 not .33. Please help

ERA is determined by the formula:

(Earned Runs x NORMAL TOTAL Innings Per Game) / ACTUAL Innings Pitched

In your case, you must have your Innings Per Game set to 9 (a typical MLB game), as you get:

(1 x 9) / 3 = 3.00

For softball, you should set your Innings Per Game to either 6 (for 10 and Under) or 7 (11 years and up). So her real ERA should be:

(1 x 7) / 3 = 2.33

Note: To change your Innings Per Game, click Play on a Game, then the Game Settings button (hammer & wrench logo). Here you can set the mound distance, the number of innings, and the softball/baseball mode, etc.
