Determining Win / Loss for Pitchers

Post by kacolvin » Thu Sep 24, 2009 5:57 am

I use iScore for Travel Softball.
We have a time limit on the games, instead of an inning limit.
Therefore, games usually go around 5 innings.

Is there a specific rule to determining the Winning Pitcher ?
Do you have to manually enter the winning and losing Pitchers to get them to show up in the Team Stats?
I updated the Winning Pitchers after the Games were over, and it did not show up in the Stats.
Did I do something wrong?

Thanks

We do not auto-calculate the winning / losing pitchers. As your example demonstrates, the rules for determining winning/losing pitcher can be quite varied. For MLB, there are some pretty clear rules, but even they can get very complicated. For youth sports, most do not "officially" track winning/losing pitchers. For those that do, the rules can vary because of exactly the type of situation you describe --- games maybe be scheduled for 5, 6, or 7 innings. Time runs out, and the number if innings will change. Games can end in a tie.

We always allow selecting the pitcher for the win/loss/save by going to the Game Manager screen, selecting the game, then in the Game Info screen, you can select the pitchers.

If you have a situation where you have selected the pitchers, and it is not showing up in your stats, we would like to see that. If you can export your database to us (Options, Export) and email your customer ID to support@fasterthanmonkeys.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false (it is in bottom left corner of Option screen), and tell us which game we should look at and which report you are not seeing the stats in, we can examine your data to see what is going on.

Thank you.

Yes you have to manually enter the winning looseing and save pitchers based on your scorekeeper judgement/rules. No auto calc. One request into FTM for future consideration is to add a prompt at end of game to remind you to enter end of game info like WP, LP SV (and blown saves).
