Twittercast broken?

Post by Underdog » Mon Sep 21, 2009 7:38 am

I am running 2.02.11 and last game when the game started, a tweet was automatically sent saying the game had started and also gave the website and customer ID so my followers could watch the game online (which is incredibly cool by the way - my son liked to "relive" the game when we get home, especially if he knocks one out!). Yesterday when we played this did not happen. Twittercast is enabled, and nothing about my account has changed. Am I missing something?

Thanks,
Dave

You can "relive" that missed game by going to "Game Manager", selecting the game, scrolling to the bottom end of the "Game info" window, and selecting "i-ScoreCast Synchronize".
For future games, just be sure you have i-ScoreCast switched to on in the "Options" panel.

The "automatic tweet" will be sent if the following conditions are meet:

1. iScorecast is enabled in the options screen
2. Twitter account login info has been entered, and Twittercast is enabled
3. You have internet connectivity (WiFi for iPod; Edge, 3G, or WiFi for iPhone)

If the above conditions are meet, then when you press "Play!" in the scoring screen, the game announcement tweet will be sent out. If you are using an iPhone and don't happen to be getting a signal, the tweet will not be sent.

You can always send the complete game to your iScorecast account by running the Synchronize command after the game (or even during a game) as jdonato mentions in the previous post.

I was going to post this as an enhancement request until I saw this post about the "automatic tweet” and now wonder if mine is not working. The Tweets being sent are the ones I send when I hit the Tweet button during the games. I was going to ask if there could be a way to send a “Game started” tweet and more importantly a “Game Over” tweet. As it is now, the follower has to know what inning the game ends when the final “Top of the 6th, 3 Out” tweet comes.
Is there an automatic tweet that should be tweeted after hitting play that is not working for me or did I misunderstand the previous post?

If you have entered your Twitter account information, enabled TwitterCast prior to starting a game, and also enabled iScorecast, then when you press "Play" to begin scoring a game, an automatic Tweet will be sent out announcing the game. This is done so that people who are following your Twitter account would then be able to go "watch" the game live via iScorecast. The tweet sent out will look similar to this:

"Wildcats at Eagles has started. Go to http://iscorecast.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and enter 1234567890 in the Customer ID entry box to watch the game live." (Your customer ID will replace the numbers in the previous message.)

We will add an automatic "Game Over" tweet with a final score for an upcoming release.

Thank you.

Odd, that is not happening with my Twittercast. I always have both iScorecast and Twittercast enabled and all the other Tweets show up. I am going through Game Manager and not Score a Game but that shouldn't matter, right?
I've only done 2 games this season, so I will check it again this weekend.

Thanks for the quick response and for adding a "Game Over" tweet in a upcoming release.

We are looking into this issue further. There may have been a change by Twitter that is preventing our Tweets from being sent. If that is the case, we will have an update with the next release.

Thank you again.

I scored my first game with iScore 2.0 yesterday and the "Play Ball" tweet did send.

We have reviewed the code and found that if the length of the Team Names is too long (to the point the message would be over 140 characters), the tweet will not send.

We have made modifications to fix this (will truncate the message), and have also added a few new tweet options (Game Over tweet for example) that will be included in the next release.

Thank you.

Hi All,

Using brand new version, 2.41.67 and following ur setup instructions, have confirmed neither "auto Tweets" nor "manual Tweets" are being broadcast. This behavior same as for last version.

Your second to last version DID Tweet "manually" for
me. I never tested "auto Tweet" on this version, so can't compare functionality on that setup.

Thoughts?
