Bases Loaded 6-3 double play
Bases Loaded 6-3 double play
I ran into another situation today that I just couldn't figure out how to score properly. The situation was this: the bases were loaded and one out. The batter hit a grounder to the third baseman who stepped on the bag for the first out. This would be a force out of the runner on second base. Then he threw over to first and got the batter out, inning over no run scored.
No matter how I do it I can't force iScore to score this the way it should be. My first problem is what to do with the runner on third who doesn't factor into the play. The runner on third doesn't score the run. The best thing I could figure out was just for the runner at third to be safe, advance by the batter and then push the button for run doesn't score. But where I run into insurmountable trouble is with a runner on second base. The runner on second base is actually forced out at third when the third baseman tagged the bag. But if I try and scored it as a forceout at third iScore thinks it's all over and dumps me out of the interface for scoring the play. I never get to tell it about the batter being the one that's out.
So what is the correct way to score this play? Thanks in advance.

Re: Bases Loaded 6-3 double play
Should be:
Out, Ground Out, 5-3. Runner at third, safe, home, run not scored. Runner at second, out, Double Play.
Sounds like you have it pretty much right...

Re: Bases Loaded 6-3 double play
Thanks Mark:
I think you (and I) may be right. After rereading iScore's description of it about a half-dozen times I think it is actually scoring the play correctly. It's just the description is very awkward and deceiving to read.
Thanks

Re: Bases Loaded 6-3 double play
Actually on the out, put 5-5-3. That give third baseman the PO for the unassisted out as well as the assist for the out at first. I think the scorecard does put the outs backwards but you can note that if you want. It does not change the statistics.

Re: Bases Loaded 6-3 double play
I have used the double enter 5 suggestion team mom gave often. Has become my default habit on double Plays
Re: Bases Loaded 6-3 double play
Thanks! I also had been thinking about using that for unassisted groundouts to say the first baseman, in other words a double three. I'll certainly use it for situations like the one I described above. Thanks for the response.

Re: Bases Loaded 6-3 double play
I was going to say that when I responded, but then I thought I read recently that doing that doesnt actually make a difference. I havent actually tested.

Re: Bases Loaded 6-3 double play
@mprusak .. nice catch..
I did some testing, for the stats, the key is using the DOUBLE PLAY Button,
( the double entry , eg 5-5-3 does not matter on stats as pointed out in the link. but the double entry will show up on score card. if that helps one understand what happens better , e.g. DP 5-5-3)
