I'm wondering how other folks are handling radical infield shifts. I did several searches here and didn't turn up any results. For example several teams are playing the Red Sox left handed hitters with a similar shift. The first and second baseman play close to their respective bags and the shortstop plays midway between second and third. The third baseman actually plays a shallow right-center field midway left to right between the first and second baseman and midway in depth between the infield and outfielders. The player positioning on the right side of the field looks like the number five on a pair of dice.

In one of the games where the shift was in use, the third baseman playing shallow right-center field grabbed a David Ortiz grounder and threw him out at first. I ended up scoring the play as a 6 to 3 groundout with the ball being hit to right field. I added a note about the shift that was in use. I'm wondering if anyone else has a better way to handle this. It seems like these shifts are becoming more popular and to my knowledge there's no way to shift the fielders in iScore. Also, how do folks handle a shift if it doesn't impact the play? In other words do you note that they've put a shift on for a given batter, or do you only mention it if it affects the scoring?

you are correct no "shift" in iscore. Simply add a note, Shift on (left, right etc).. then just score the play so the right players touch the ball. that way they get credited with the assist, put out error etc. /

If the third baseman was in right field, why would you score it 6-3? Wouldn't it be 5-3? the location of the hit would also indicate that a shift must have been in place. I suppose putting a note in on the first pitch to the batter might be a good idea if they have a shift in place.
