quick roster players not in player manager

I'm on version 2.02.11
I created a new league (and made it active) for our tournament this weekend.
My regular season league "2009-2010" is also active
I created 2 teams and used "quick roster" to generate players.
I confirmed both the team and it's generated players were in the new league I had created.
I scored the game and changed the player #'s and positions as they came to bat and played defense (used the "MISC" "Change starting lineup" to do this
I ended the game early using the "end the game"
I confirmed the game I had just scored was in the new league.

1. When I go to Team Manager, Roster, the players name & number I had changed during the game was not changed (if I changed the players name or number in the lineup before I hit "Play", his name is updated in Team Manager). Is there a way to preserve the player #'s and names as I learn/update them during the game?

2. Also under Team Manager, Roster, I select a player, then hit "Player Card", the player's stats are dated Dec 1969-Dec-31. Did I do something wrong?

3. I then went to Player Manager to view the players stats that way, but I don't see any of the players that were added for the above two teams/games (The new league is still active). When you add a team/players using "Quick Roster", are these players not supposed to be available in the Player Manager?

Thank you for your help with this!

For #1 (changing of player showing up in Roster), it is changing the player name that triggers the save back to the roster. If all you change is the # and position, it is assumed it is still a generic player. Try just updating the last name of a player, and it should update in Team Manager as well.

For #2, see if you can edit the game date in Game Manager by selecting the game and scrolling down to the start / end date. The date you mention is the date that is shown when a start or end date is missing. If you can't edit the date, you can export your database to us and email us your customer ID and we can set the date for you.

For #3, you will only see players in the Player Manager after you edit their name and save. We intentionally do not show players generated by Quick Roster until you change their names. Otherwise, you could wind up seeing Player A, Player B, Player 1, Player 2, etc over and over in your database as time goes on, and you would not be able to differentiate. If you want to see them in Player Manager, just get in the habit of editing the last name of the players after creating quick rosters.

Let us know if you have any further questions. Thank you.

great points of clarification FTM !!

kbum- I can verify that if you create teams with quick roster and edit and save the players names as you learn them in game via misc starting line up, (specifically you must edit the last name to a non numeric last name) as you would expect, the players will be preserved and will be in player manager for future reference. I have done this for a number of games in v 2.02.11. If you leave the last name a number 1,2,3, they will not appear in player manager.

It makes sense to not save to Team Manager until a name has been saved. But what do you do if the only names on the line-up card you are given are first names (as is often the case) and last names do not appear on the uniform? Will it save the player if you enter a first name and nothing for the last name? And then, if/when you edit that player card as you learn the last name, will old stats (tied to, say "Bobby") be merged with any new entered after the edit (to, say, "Bobby Smith")?

If you enter first name only then the player will appear in the Player Manager. Any change to the first or last name will cause it to appear.

Changing the player's name will always retain his previous stats.
