Pitching - Win/Loss

Post by teamchampion02 » Mon Apr 23, 2012 9:37 am

If the app tracks substitutions, etc - why isn't the Win/Loss/Save automatically assigned in the app? Currently its a post-game edit. I don't understand why its set up this way - can someone explain?

Too many varying rules for the app to be able to do this.

For example, in MLB a starting pitcher must go 5 IP to qualify for win.
In youth leagues a kid would never pitch 5 innings.

That i can understand - but if we play a game where there is only 1 pitcher - the win/loss should be applied, at minimum. If nothing else, the MLB rule could be something that could be applied in 'Settings'. If on - the 5 inning rule applies. If off, the statistics of the app should be able to make the determination.

Again, I think too many variables. I provided one example.

Some use 3IP, others use 4, etc.
Many youth leagues have no interest in assigning winning and losing pitchers.
We havent even talked about saves and the various rules assigning saves.

Could you create a series of settings that cover all possibilities? Perhaps.

Is it easier to let the user assign this? I think so...and FTM tends to agree.

Here is another post on this topic for further insight:
