Sorry if this topic has been covered, but I wanted to get other user's advice on using iscore as the official scorekeeper for a league or tournament game. I'm new to iscore and scorekeeping in general, but I love the app. My concern is whether umpires at league games and tournaments will accept iscore as the official book, or whether they will insist on an old-fashioned paper scorebook. I've had situations where there was a dispute about the number of outs, and the umpire turned to me (as the home team scorekeeper) and asked to see my book. A quick glance at the (paper) book settled the issue, but I don't know how that would have played out with my smart-phone, with me pinch-zooming and pushing buttons to try to show him what happened.
In your experience, do umpires accept iscore as the official record during the game, or do we need two scorekeepers, one with pencil and paper, and one using iscore?

I've never had a problem. I use the ipad, and it is easy to bring up the scorecard which looks just like a traditional paper scorebook. I've only had positive comments from umps and other teams. Not sure if the phone version would be any different.

I've used an iPod Touch. When asked, I've just pulled up the scorebook view and zoomed around to show them. It is a little awkward on that screen, but it works. The umps should use it with no problem. The only issue I've seen is that we have multiple parents that like to keep their own book and umps will turn to them first as the official book even if you are. They just see someone writing in a paper book and assume that is the team's book. Once they know who is keeping it, then it is not a problem.

Some leagues and tournaments have specific rules prohibiting electronic scoring (some people just have a hard time adjusting to the times
)
I have never had an issue, personally. I would think that as long as it isnt specifically stated in the rules you play under, you should be fine.
