Limiting Information Under Game Tab

Post by kwillytiger » Wed Mar 07, 2012 11:13 am

I would like to remove the ability to view the scorecard for each game under the game tab and wondered if that was possible.

You can password protect the Games tab, but there is not a way to hide just the Scorecard from the games tab.

Would like to see the possibility of choosing what columns are visible on the games tab, similar to the stats column choices. Ideally, choose those that are visible with and without password. I would not mind having box score or even play-by-play public, but would not like stats and scorecoards public as it provides too much data that could be used for scouting.

Adding selecting of individual columns adds a lot of complexity to the site management. We have plans for improving the Admin interface for the team website, and will consider doing updates like this at that time.

For now, we have modified the "Scorecard" to be treated the same way as Statistics. If "Statistics" requires a password to log in, the scorecard will now be hidden on the Games tab (just like the Stats link) if the user is not logged in.

My scorecard still shows up under games when statistics are password required. Did you change this back?

Also, having trouble with home page. Taking a very long time to load.

scorecard shows for me too, with stats password protected.

however, I must say, that is what I would want it to do. Does it really make sense to hide the scorecard, but still have box score, iscorecast (if used) and play by play visible for that game?

what does this accomplish?

why not just password protect the games tab?

scorecard essentially gives them hit charts for your team. I like the idea of keeping them hidden. I've always had both games and stats hidden for that reason. Would like to open up games if scorecards are hidden. Much harder to pull useful stat information from play by play IMO.

I don't know, seems like that is what the games password protection is for. What about the guy that wants to protect stats, but have the scorecard show? Now it wouldn't be an option. At least your have an option to use a password, if you don't want it to be freely available.

Just playing devil's advocate, here...doesn't really impact me, as I password protect games and stats. Was just struggling with the logic.

We did have to switch it back as customers started complaining about the change. When we release the new version of Team Website administration, we will be sure to give an option allowing you to turn on / off password protection of the scorecard separately from the Games tab.

Yeah, given the two choices, it just makes more sense that way.

Your update will give best of both worlds...Thanks.
