Career Stats

Can this program keep track of career stats for individual players? And if it does, does it keep track of them by the player's name or by their number?
Yes it can.
It uses an internal ID to track each player, regardless of what name or number is given by you. So, same player can have different numbers on different teams. As long as you use the same player, stats will be cumulative.
If you ever inadvertently created a second player, that is actually the same player, there is a merge function to combine them.
Also, use of leagues will allow greater flexibility in viewing stats in various manners (by team, by year, etc or any combination). Do a search for "League usage".
