Same Team, New Season, Same Website?

A few questions here as I haven't touched the APP since our season ended in November:
1) We have two players who left our team and moved to another one already saved on Team Manager. Do I simply delete them from our Team, then add them to the other team?
2) How do I begin a new season? I would like to keep the stats from last season if possible.
3) Can I still use the same website, or do I need to purchase another subscription. If I can use it, is there a way to keep the stats from last season?
Thank you in advance for the help.

Here is a thread that discusses "starting a new season" options:

I'm sorry, but I am still very confused. Do I have to create a whole new team OR just create a new league? What happens to the stats on the website from last season?
One post said something about sending an email to FTM to merge team to device???? Sorry I need to be taken step by step

I do recommend reading the referenced thread. b/c the answer is "it depends" on what you want and value more.. there are pros and cons in terms of effort, cost and history availability in how you approach.
that said for me, after trying different ways, I spend the extra effort to create a new team and new team web site each year to keep history clean and intact...
below is my strategy and some mechanical steps i take to set up a repeat team for a new season...
you said you wanted detail steps so here goes....
(please feel free to post back for clarification points)
strategy
* leave last year 2011 team as is and not renew last year 2011 team web site
* create new team 2012 and buy/build a new 2012 team web site
Mechanical Steps
( assume i have a team called "longhorns", and league called "big 12")
step 0) - I do not delete anything. I do not delete players, teams or games once scored. I save indefinitely.. the history takes up little space, and gives me flexibility to view past player and team stats by season/year / lifetime if i want later.
step 1) Rename Old Team / Create New Team
-) change last year team name (in game manager on handheld) from "Longhorns" to "Longhorns-2011"
-) create a new team (in game manger on handheld) call them "Longhorns" (or "Longhorns-2012") .
-) populate the new "Longhorns-2012" team roster by adding returning players through Pick list (not by create new players), create new players only when you have to. /yes this takes picking/entering each member of the roster, but it allows you the most flexibility to review prior season and life time stats by season/team/life time as you want
step 2) Rename old league / Create New League
-) rename last year league(s) (in league manager on handheld) from "Big 12" to "2011 big 12" for Example From "Big 12 All", to "2011 big 12 All" from "Big 12 Regular Season" to 2011 Big 12 regular season" from "big 12 Pre Season to 2011 big 12 Pre Season" etc
-) create new leagues call them "2012 big 12- All", "2012 big 12 Pre Season", "2012 Big 12 Regular Season" etc. (if you add the year to league now, won't have to edit it 12 months from now when you are going from 2012 to 2013.)
step 3 ) Assign League(s)
- ) Assign new 2012 team to new 2012 league. In team Manager on handheld, assign Team "Longhorn -2012" to all appropriate 2012 Leagues e.g., "2012 big 12- all" , " 2012 big 12 Regular season", 2012 big 12 pre season" etc.
-) assign all players on 2012 team (in player manager) to appropriate 2012 leagues. Remember a player can be assigned to multiple leagues, i.e. returning players should be in 2011 leagues and 2012 leagues.
step 4) Export / update Web sites
-) Export data (on handheld, Options >Export) to update off site Server with new team name
step 5) Purchase new 2012 Web site
-) go to your free baseball admin web site, (my.iscorecentral.com)
- ) log on (user name and password ... can be found on hand held device under Options > Admin web site)
-) Select team Tab, click on Create Web site for 2012 Longhorns.
-) pick an appropriate Url/team name. and follow on screen instructions...
step 6) replicate old web site settings and look and feel to new site, then customize
-) open up side by side and log into both old (2011 team site) and new (2012 team site) (log in as administrator on both)
-) make look the same....
--> copy settings. go to settings tab on each site and duplicate 2011 settings on 2012 page, (old fashion cut and paste for each setting field. ).
--> copy home page . go to home page, HTML editor on both, , and copy and paste 2011 HTML from old to new site. (again simple cut and paste) save and exit
-) mothball 2011 site (go to home page and edit to say "Season Over, Click here for 2012 Web Site"
-) customize home page for 2012 as needed ...
step 7) On hand held, in league manager enable 2012 leagues and uncheck 2011 leagues.
later.. , build new 2012 opponent teams and 2012 game schedule.

to also repsond to the direct questions ...

One post said something about sending an email to FTM to merge team to device???? Sorry I need to be taken step by step
1 ) per my other post -- I recommend creating a new team, w/ new leagues, and buy/create a new team web site (let last year site lapse) .. I do that instead of just adding new players and deleting 'retired' players from last years team. that is my preferred approach.
2) team web site subscriptions are for a year and are specific to the team purchased for.. , after the year expires and if you do not renew, the site does not "disappear immediately" but instead gets a banner saying "out of date" and will at some time be disabled by FTM. so for a while the site and stats will still be on the web, but at some time taken down. But you will always retain the data on your device.
the approach i suggest, does change the URL you use year to year. Example
http://iscorebaseball.com/TeamName2011" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://iscorebaseball.com/TeamName2012" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
the approach does call for you to spend $20/yr, and let the former site get flagged with a expired banner. if you bought 2011 team site on feb 1 2011, the "expired banner" will start to appear on feb 12 2012 but the data will still be there for a while longer and accessible. you then buy a new 2012 team site on Feb 1 2012, it costs you another 20$,and use it for the next year. and so on.
3) Ignore the team merge and email point for now. it is only marginally relevant.

Can I just simply:
1) create a new league
2) assign my existing team and other old/new teams to the new league by checking only that league under Team Manager
3) Do I have to purchase a new Web Site? My yearly subscription runs out this August so I still have this season.
4) When I did this, I noticed that all you have to do is select the new season name on the Website and the stats reset to zero while still maintaining the stats from the previous season (of course I have to select that season on website to do so)
Am I missing something? What are the disadvantages to doing it this way?

This works just fine. This does not work as well if your rosters have high turnover as the stats will show for all players on your current Team Roster. But as long as your team is mostly the same players, then this is a great way to go, and no new website is needed.

Howboys, I've pretty much decided to do it the way you're suggesting. I would prefer to do it the way Ohio Tex suggested, but since there's no guarantee on how long the old website will remain accessible, I don't want to risk losing that data. The only way to make sure it's there for the life of my players is to pay for both the old site and the new site this year. Since I have two team websites, that would mean paying for FOUR sites this year. Then next year it becomes SIX sites and so on for 6 more years.
If it weren't for that, I would definitely go Ohio Tex's method just because it would be nice to start a new year with fresh clean data. I still have about six weeks to change my mind, though.

@ danger .. I want to be very clear. you never loose the data that is on your handheld. (unless you delete it). all that is at risk is loosing with an expired team site, is the web access. you always have the ability to view history on your device and email excel files as long as you retain old games, teams, players and leagues..... ..
@ Howboys37 in my experience with school teams that add/graduate year to year. re using teams became very confusing. I found, when i wanted to go back on my handheld to see how the team did two years ago.. or even last year it was not clean. So i went to the process i described.
that said, that was before we had "inactive player" capabilities (that has been added one roast year). . Perhaps "inactive" player capabilities will help, but have not had a chance to simulate it .. the web separation of stats was even more recent. I know you can always merge two teams , if the inactive player process works, but once merged you can not go back and re separate, so i have not tested it to see if works better. Wish you luck and be glad to hear your success story

Note to readers.. some of the information on this thread may be outdated as FTM has recently (feb 2012) added some enhancements to the in active roster player feature and how the web sites filter information.
The intent with FTM's latest release is to enable you to keep the same url team web site year to year for high school teams or travel teams that have the same core but add/drop a few each year.
I have not fully tested the new feature but it should simplify the world .
