Problem adding player and more issues trying to edit

I was playing a game of Strat-o-matic and forgot to add a pitcher to the teams roster that they picked up before I started the game. When I brought him in for the 8th inning I exited out of the game scoring and added him to the teams roster. When I went back into the game to continue playing the player I had added was not available to be selected to pitch. I messed around with it for a bit and then decided I would simply make a note of it and then just put a position player in as "pitching" and figured I could edit the play by play after the game once I figured out why the guy wasn't available on the roster.

Any ideas as to why the player would not be available as a choice when I went to sub him into the game? I'm playing an entire season so I'd like to be able to record his very forgettable inning (a couple hits, a walk and 2 earned runs), but I can't figure out how to do it.

Thanks in advance for your help.

The Team Roster is not the same as the Game Lineup. When you create a game, the Team Roster is copied to the Lineup for that game, but it is just a copy.

To add a player to the game that was not in the original lineup, from the scoring screen, go to Misc -> Show Starting Lineup, and you can add players to either team's lineup from there.

To add a player post game and do the substitution, go to Game Manager, select the game, select Pitch by Pitch, tap the Game Starts event, tap Edit next to Starting Lineup, and you can then add your player to the lineup for the correct team. Then scroll in the pitch by pitch to the point he should be subbed in, tap that pitch, tap Edit next to Substitutions, and you can make the missing substitution.

All stats will automatically be updated after doing this.
