Could not exit (BACK) Game Info Screen after e-mail

Directly after a recent game I was sending statistics via email and ran accross this anomily. After e-mailing Game Statistics, the "BACK" button and "PLAY" button at the top of the GAME INFO screen disappeared and never returned. Literally they were not visable. The only options available were Email and the Trash Can at the bottom of the screen.

I went through every available option and even did a i-ScoreCast Synchronize (knowing that this is not the same as an Option-Export) as well as exiting the application and restarting it. Restarting the application would only open into the GAME INFO screen without the "BACK" and "PLAY" buttons. As I could not exit the GAME INFO screen to the Main Screen I could not EXPORT the game; eventually I was forced to DELETE the game to get out of the GAME INFO view.

I can see the game location (location Lat and Lon are incorrect) and date the game was played in the ScoreCast tab of the website, however it does not appear in the GAMES tab.

I did receive the e-mail of the scorecards so can rebuild the game, however it won't have a pitch-by-pitch and re-entering the game without it will be a pain. I suspect this game is now "electronically" lost from the servers? Is there any way to retreive it from the i-ScoreCast server?

If you ever get in a state where you are "stuck", you can always force iScore to close completely with these steps:

1. Press the home button on your device to go back to the home screen.

2. Double-press the home button to show all running applications on your device

3. Hold finger on the iScore icon in the bottom tray that appears and press the "-" (minus) sign on the icon to close iScore. (NOTE: Do not press an "x" on the iScore icon --- this would mean you accidentally held your finger on the main iScore icon instead of the one in the "task bar" at the bottom of the screen)

4. Tap the home button again, and restart iScore.

There never should have been any reason to delete a game. If you used iScorecast for the game, you can recover it using Data Sharing. To do this, follow these steps from within iScore:

1. Go to Options -> Data Sharing -> Get from Web Database

2. For Customer ID, enter "sc:XXXXX" replacing the X's with the customer ID of your device. So if your customer ID is "12345", you would enter "sc:12345"

3. For the password, enter the Admin password from your device as found on Options -> Admin Website

4. Login

iScore will now list all iScorecasts for games that do not already exist on your device, and you can select one and import it. If a game is not listed that you can see when going to the scorecasts for your device (http://iscorecast.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), it means it is already on your device (make sure you have the All league selected on your device to see all games already on your device).

Data share recovering of the iscorecast game will be fast and easier than recreating. Once you data share in the iscorecast synched version, when you then option export, then game will show up on games tab..as you realized iscorecast synch and option export are different, and behind the scenes they are different servers I believe..

Sorry for the program hang, if you recall the steps that caused it or can reproduce it regularly, I know the developers would like to know to try and fix..

As FTM mentioned, if it hangs in the future, shutting down should be a better option than trashing.. And iscorecast synching is a smart alternative backup plan..like you did. One I would not have thought of, nice job.

I have seen a similar error (on ipod touch 4th generation, iScore 3.16.162) on two or three occasions. I cannot recall the exact scenario, but it was during pitch-by-pitch editing. The Back button disappears, and the Play button doesn't do anything. As above, the fix was to quit the application via the task bar (which did not lose any data). If it happens again, I'll repost with more details.
