Caught stealing 3rd out

Post by Gbrinton » Fri Apr 01, 2011 4:22 pm

Mistakenly, I scored the 3rd out of an inning the current batter instead of the runner caught stealing second. Subsequently, the first batter of the next inning was shown as the wrong person (not the person at bat when the last inning ended. I couldn't continue scoring because I was off by one batter.
Is there any way I could have corrected this? The pitch by pitch edit wouldn't allow me to change an out to not an out or show a ruuner caught stealing.
Any help appreciated.

Welcome to the board.

We've all did an oops during the game. While scoring during a game and an error is made the best approach is to use UNDO to delete play/plays and correct the issue at the time. Pitch by pitch has limited editing abilities and I have found getting it right during the game is the best approach.

I have used undo for several plays back and rescored (sometimes imperfectly but close) but I prefer this to edit overrides and other workarounds after the game is finished.

Once you have scored an entire half inning it may be difficult to go back and undo/redo in real time. A couple of options are as follows:

1) you can skip batter, no out, and go thru the entire lineup until you get to the correct batter. You'll have to fix the stats (for the incorrect out) after the game with stats override.
2) you can sub in the correct batter (this produces a funny looking scorecard as you may have to sub the batter each time until you make it through the lineup again, if you are batting all players.) Again you'll have to fix the stats with the override option.

Either option will allow you to finish the game without undoing an inning. If it was a long inning it would be difficult to re-score it after the fact. If you want to make the game perfect after that fact, you can score a new game at home using the scorecard and play by play printed out from your original game, and then delete the incorrect game once you have the replacement. This may be hard for a new user, but it is possible.

Good luck!
