Softball coach question
I have got your product on my Iphone. My question is this a good device to keep yearly stats and game to game stats that will be recorded and put in newspapers...I need a dependable source to keep stats...they will be recorded after each game.
Re: Softball coach question
Yes!! Produces games stats, game boxscores, player stats, and for extra $, team websites with all the above. Great app!! I use this for a tournament softball team.

Re: Softball coach question
Sounds like I've made a good choice
Re: Softball coach question
if you haven't already done so, I recommend watching all the training videos. I also "trained" scoring a couple of games on TV. There is a slight learning curve, but it is a pretty intuitive, score it as you see it program. Now it is easy and I can't imagine going back to paper. Plus the stats it spits out are great and instantaneous.

Re: Softball coach question
Thanks, I have watched the video's numerous times and they are very helpful. Putting in my roster the first time was time comsuming to say the least.
I'll put in most of my stats after the game is over from a score book at the game...will be hard fro me to coach and do stats at same time. I was looking for a great stat program and this looks to solve the problem...I have used Turbo stats in the past, but Iscore seems to be my option this season.
Will it spit out individual game stats and season stats?

Re: Softball coach question
Yes, if you utilize the league option. Games can be assigned to different leagues for sorting purposes. I have each tournament in its own league, as well as spring vs. fall, and friendlies. You can set up whatever system works best for you. Check out the league discussion on this forum, which is a sticky topic at the top of the list.
Some users prefer to enter rosters via the admin website for the reason you stated above. Quick roster is a good option if you do not get the opposing team roster until right before the game. Names can be edited later when you have time.
Using this app on your phone, you may be able to coach and keep score at the same time. Some organizations will not allow it in the dugout however due to some of the analytic information it provides (i.e. hitting charts for opposing teams, once you have played them.)

Re: Softball coach question
When my team is on defense I can see myself using Iscore in the dugout...this is high school softball and I doubt no restrictions will occur. Coaching 3rd base will be hard to score at game.
I might use your help at times, so look for my posts
We open our season on Monday

Re: Softball coach question
We have a few ASA and NFHS softball umps on the forum who have counseled users in the past, that NFHS rules do not allow communication devices in the dug out or on the field, but do allow electronic scoring devices.. I recommend a friendly check in with the umpire in charge before the game -- demonstrate to his satisfaction- scoring not communication.
I also HIGHLY encourage you to take TeamMom's advice and score a MLB (or other) game in advance to get a feel for the "score it as you see it" workflow of iScore - it is a bit different than turbo stats.
I have found i can operate the iphone/itouch version with one hand from the dug out and as an on base coach., leaving pencil and book behind. However, some of my leagues still require a traditional paper book be kept with the official scorer (and that is ok by me, it proves a good audit point later).
when game is over and I am connected to internet ...only a couple taps on device and "preliminary" copy of score book and individual/team stats are emailed (within minutes). Later that night, i generally review the pitch by pitch and paper score book, and make extra notes or clean up any potential scoring ambiguities I find -- then a couple key taps and all is published to my team web site.
good luck and enjoy.

Awesome thanks..most of my entries will be after the game and I can clean up scoring problems at that time...sound like I've made the right choice for my team and stats.
I'll find out starting on Monday
