Import and export are used to send your data to our server (export) and bring any data from our server back to your device (import). What is this used for? A few things:
1. It allows you to back up your data. By exporting the data to our server, you know that it will be safe even if you decide to remove the app from your device (removing an app also removes all data), and then want to restore it later.
2. We wanted to provide a built in upgrade path with a way to move data between versions of the software. Our initial release is a fully functional application that is intended for most scorekeeping needs. In the future, we intend to release a "Pro" version for use in leagues that will add additional options for even more detailed statistical analysis. All current owners of the application will get this "Pro" version free for being early adopters. We also intend to have a "Lite" version which will allow users to score a limited number of innings so they can try before buying. Export/Import will allow you to move data between versions of the software as there is no built in functionality to do this type of thing on the iPhone.
3. It is a way we are actually able to help our customers if they are having any issues (or find a bug). By allowing you to export your data to our servers, it gives us a way that you can send us your data so we can research any specific problem a customer has.
