Welcome to iscore and the community. Enjoy!
There are offense and defense substitutions.
For defense subs, just tap on the fielded position icon, and up pops the defense sub screen (diamond on top of screen and game roster listed below). Tap on sub in player from list. Then save. You can make multiple defensive subs at a time, touch position in field then player from list. (repeat). Unassigned positions have a ? In the field. Remember to save, upper right button, to close window and return to main scoring screen.
For offensive subs, tap on the batter icon, and up pops the offense sub screen (batting line up across top of screen and game roster below). Tap lineup position on top of screen then new batter from list below. Again, save (upper right corner button) when done.
Please Note the offensive sub screen is only available if you have bench batters (ie not batting all). If batting all, the batting order is set in the starting line up, So batting substitutions are meaningless. You can always skip a batter if they leave (misc skip batter) oR add a bench player to sub in (misc show starting line up, add player, set to not batting, and then he will be available to sub in). Once you have batted around, the number of batters in line up is locked and can not be changed. After that you can just skip and sub, before that you can add to end of line up if batting all.
Also, note..You can flip from offensive and defensive sub screen by the offense and defense button on top of the substitution screen.

I am having the same problem. I cant seem to make players who are already in the game switch positions (eg. CF comes to P and P goes to CF). Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know I can sub players who are on the bench but cant seem to make the changes between players who are in the game.

simple, at the main scoring screen, tap a defensive position icon.
up pops the defensive substitution screen
(baseball diamond on top and roster list on bottom of screen).
tap the roster name, and he will be subbed in for the position icon you tapped to open the screen
tap another position icon on top of the screen and then a player name below, and viola they are subbed in.
a question mark (?) appears when no one is assigned.
you can make unlimited substitutions.

This should be a fairly easy step. I wonder if the two users who are having problems are using the new android app? I've never had this issue with the ipad version. If it is a device issue, we should try to identify that.

great point teammom !!!
.. I was assuming it was new user interface learning curve, but may be a hardware device thing, not user learning curve....
@ fryant21 and @ Mazzabaseball
please respond back if you are still having trouble, and/or it is not working as described. include what device type you use (iphone, android, ipad, etc).

Android works the same way for substitutions... tap the defensive player, and tap positions / players to make the substitutions on the screen that pops up.

I am a baseball coach and this is my second season using iScore for High School Baseball and i remembered it being very easy last season to make those changes but I was trying to make the changes the other night during a game and it would not let me. I had to substitute a player in from the bench and then resubstitute the player from the field back into his new position (our centerfielder went in to pitch, our rightfielder switched to center and pitcher went to right). I am using the Iphone App, but am thinking of switching to the iPad if my battery life is good enough for a double header

My ipad easily scores 3-4 games (this is softball, so average game time is 1:20-1:30.) For tournament days I make sure to turn it off between games and bring an extension cord and charger to keep the battery charging during any long breaks. I have not had any battery problems yet.

hmm, on the iphone (and ipad) versions, substitution should be as described and as straight forward as you remember. I suggest giving it another try, and see if you can repeat the problem. sometimes i have "fat finger" issues in taping the right icon, but otherwise, I have not seen a report on this board for similar problem.
Battery life is better on the ipad, and have done double headers just fine. but iPad can have overheating problems if used in direct sun light and say 85 degrees (in shade and 95 is just fine however).
when i am in coaches box or dug out, i prefer the smaller size and one handed scoring of the iphone/itouch, when in the stands i prefer the bigger screen though it takes two hands to score.
iscore on the ipad experience is very nice
good luck and enjoy the coming season
