Managing 2 team websites and 2 teams from 1 device

Post by chazwalt » Tue Jan 25, 2011 7:30 pm

Are there any issues with managing 2 different teams (and uploading stats to separate websites) from one device? To further complicate matters, the 2 different teams will share some players.

I spent last summer and fall maintaining a web site for a travel team that includes players from several different high school teams. I would now like to keep that site going, but create a new site for one of the high school teams this spring (the high school team includes my son and 3 other players that are on both teams). Can this be accomplished? What are the pitfalls, etc. of keeping the data separate and uploading the correct games to the correct site? In other words, I want the high school game stats completely separate from the travel team stats. I don't want merged information for the players that are on both teams.

Thanks in advance for the help/advice.

You can have as many teams and websites managed from a single device as you like... even if players are shared. The stats for the player on each team will be correct because the websites correctly filter to just the games for the team they are created for.

We have many customers managing multiple teams from a single device (they have more than one child, or a child playing on multiple teams for example, and want a website for each).

When you export from your device, all websites tied to the device will automatically be updated.

@chazwalt

Downside - need to spend multiple twenty dollar bills for each team web site.
Upside - everything else

Seriously, the only down side to what you propose is the extra cost for a second (or more) team site. Consider a two dollar per kid chip in from each parent to cover the cost.

how well does it work? Answer is great.

the ease and simplicity of maintaining multiple team sites through the device is seamless. No more for one than many. Set up each team site, then same steps after any game to update , email, export, and isych. ( The device knows which team site to update. )

I am one of those users who runs a separate team site for each kid, and then variations for each of their slightly different spring, summer , fall and winter teams.
if the different teams are serial in their games, i.e., summer team starts after spring ends, then a single team web site with leagues works perfect. But if seasons overlap, ie spring to summer, and summer to fall. You would probably want to buy more team sites, one for spring and fall and one for summer and winter. (isolate within each using leagues)

If you do end up with multiple team sites for your kid, you may want to go that extra mile, and get a player spotlight subscription, it automatically consolidates a players stats across all his teams and leagues in a nice drill down fashion. It runs on autopilot, the only incremental effort being any home page customization/ color scheme you want. Update team site and player site updated with no extra effort, just the $fee.

This may sound like it adds up and it can, but I found teams more than willing to chip in 2$ a kid for the password.

Great news! Thanks for the feedback. I will begin setting up the high school team's website soon and will continue to maintain the travel team site.

thanks again!

Player Spotlights can be purchased from the Admin Website (go to Options->Admin Website on your device to see how to log in there).

A Player Spotlight is just like a Team Website, but only focuses on a single player. It will show the statistics for the that player for each team they played on as well as cumulative statistics across all teams they have played on. It is a nice way to see all data just for a single player instead of focusing on a team, and is especially nice if a player plays on multiple teams (local league, travel team, high school, etc) as it will consolidate the statistics to a single website.

The cost of the Player Spotlight sites is only $9.99 / year.
