Website scorecasting

Post by danmcc » Wed Jul 07, 2010 4:16 pm

Tomorrow is our first game that I will have WiFi connection, love playing the occasional game at a college. I have figured out the iScorecast part of live scoring, but I am not sure of how the website works for the live game. I assume that I set a game then export so it is on the website as well as iScorecast sync, which I will do after the rosters are set tomorrow. How is the website triggered that the game started? Will a viewer have both iScorecast and play by play to chose from on the website?

Thanks,
Dan

The game will not appear as an iScorecast on your website until after you have exported with the game already created, and the game has started. If you have already created the game, you can export now, and as soon as you start scoring the game with iScorecast, the link will appear on your website.

You can also tell users to go to http://iscorecast.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, and enter your Customer ID. As an option for people with Team Websites, instead of the Customer ID on the Scorecast screen, you can tell them to enter your team name. For example, if your team website URL is http://iscorebaseball.com/myteam" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, they could simply enter "myteam" in the Customer ID link at http://iscorecast.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

In addition, as of a couple weeks ago, even mobile users can view scorecasts by going to that link (i.e. people who can not use Flash). It will automatically bring up an HTML based interface.

Dan .

Not exactly.

To stream live (if you are connected to Internet 3G or wifi) . All you need to do is be sure in main options menu iscorecast is on. (home page > options > iscorecast on).

All three (Options > Export) ( Game manager > iscorecastt synchronize) as well as (game manager > email ) ...are more what you do after a completed game to update both admin and team web sites - not required for live streaming.

When you have iscorecast option turned on and if connected to Internet, when you hit "play" to start a game... The game shows up on the game list in web browser at the links provided for live real time viewing. You can also create customer ID specific links like http://data.iscorecentral.com/iscorecas ... ?c=XXXXXXX" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (where xxxxxx is your ID) to give to people in advance.

Make sense?

Note. You may need to periodically go onto your admin web site and manually prune the listing of iscorecasted games. (delete old or unused ones). Especially if you try a few test games, because deleting a game from game manager list does not remove them from iscorecast list

Make sense?

OhioTex, I assumed the export I noted was to "load" the game on the website so that when I started the game it would be there already to receive the information for streaming.

.....was concerned folks reading this may miss the most key part to enable real time iscorecast is the options > iscorecast on ! W/o that enabled won't work real time... Export is optional before does game and does create a place for the iscorecast to land on your "team web site" and has the added benefit of creating a game specific URL you can pass along to viewers... Vs the customer ID specific index....

Enjoy!

Thanks.

fYI - I have started sending 'remote watchers' the html player link over the flash player link.

for me, I have come to prefer the html iscorecast display over the original flash scoreboard looking display. because of font size and clarity on baseball hit positioning.for me, easier on the eyes and it works on mobile browsers too.

OhioTex, what is the html link? The parents trying to follow play by play in blackberry are getting a "flash" message not play by play. I thought the view automatically went to play by play if the device did not have flash.
