How should this one be scored?

Post by randkos3 » Sat May 29, 2010 6:19 pm

Bases loaded, one out.

Batter hits line shot down 3rd base line . . . ball hits the left hand of the runner who had led off the bag . . . umpire ruled the ball and the runners hand were on(above) the foul line - therefore, fair ball. Runner was called out, and "dead Ball" was called. Batter is "safe" at 1st, all other runners advanced to their next base. End result, bases are still loaded, 2 outs now.

My question, . . . how is this play scored? Base hit, base running error, force out, something else?

Batter is credited with a base hit rule 10.5 (a) (5)
Putout credited to the player nearest to the ball rule 10.9 (c) (2)

Thanks . . . I had it wrong, but, I was able to go into the post game pitch/pitch and change it. It seems every game I do, I run into something I have questions about. Thanks - again.

Oh, forgot to mention . . . when I went to "Pitch by Pitch" and editted the play, iScore already had - runner out - "hit by batted ball" option - so that made it real easy. Also, was able to credit the batter with a single - I had incorrectly marked it as a force out at Home - thinking that the batter couldn't be creditted with a single without a run scoring.
