pitching stats
pitching stats
Is there a way to do only pitching stats for our team without scoring
the complete game? Perhaps a short cut or a work around . I just need to keep track of our pitching info.
IE: Pitch location, type of pitch, number of pitches ,foul balls, hits, outs etc.
Or at least as much of the pitching info as is available.
I am new to the Iscore world and hope to learn how to score the complete
game but for now the pitching info would be a great help !
Thanks,
Bones

Re: pitching stats
It would probably be easier to score the whole game than try and circumvent most of the program just to score pitching. FTM will need to chime in, but I think it would actually be harder to score just the pitching.

Re: pitching stats
You can do it... usually people ask about keeping only batting stats for their team, but the same ideas would apply to keeping just pitching stats. The way most people do it is to create a team called "Opponent", and just use "Quick Roster" to create players 1-9 (or however many players are allowed to bat in your league).
Create your lineup just as you normally would.
When your team is at bat, just touch Misc->Skip Inning (it actually skips the 1/2 inning).
When the other team is up, just keep track of pitches as you normally would scoring balls, strikes, pitch locations, hits, etc. When a new pitcher comes in for your team, just substitute as you normally would.
You will then be able to view pitching reports for your players from game manager, and the speckle charts from the scorecards just like you would for any game (though the rest of the stats would not be very meaningful).

Attention support . Problem solved ! Rebooted ...stats now showing.
Thanks for your quick response . Great app and even better support.

Re: pitching stats
when multiple device support is released and fully functional, i can envision some folks wanting to track just pitcher info on their unit... pitcher detail, location, type speed etc and then merging it into the full game later..

Re: pitching stats
OhioTex, as a user of an iTouch version of iScore since last summer, and a brand new user of the iPad version, that is *exactly* what I am interested in doing - having another parent do the pitch charting *only* while I score the game, and then merging the two. As I understand it, that won't be possible until both the iTouch/iPhone version and the iPad version both are updated to allow data merging without FTM's support (with the iTouch/iPhone update due any day; not sure when the iPad version is due). When that happens, what is the suggested way to best accomplish this?

Re: pitching stats
The data sharing in the release that was just submitted allows you to copy games between devices, but it does not allow "merging" of data for a single game. That would be a whole new level of complexity (what if one scorekeeper missed a pitch or a few pitches, what if one had the wrong lineup, etc). We will be working on a "co-operative scorekeeping" method in a future release that would allow people to take different roles in the same game, but this release was more about letting people copy rosters/games between devices for situations where a team may have multiple people that can keep score, and you want to copy the games to keep cumulative statistics in place. Or the even nicer goal of having all teams in a league using iScore, and before the game, you can go to the opposing team, and just get a copy of their lineup via Bluetooth instead of having to enter it yourself.

Attention Management:
Thanks for a great app. Is there any interest in a pitching only app?
Using your existing technology regarding pitch type, location, number of
pitches, strikes and balls this could be a stand alone pitching app.(IE:
the ultimate pitching stats) that would allow coaches and parents to keep accurate data on the above pitching info.No need to use any scoring data like did runner advance etc. Just a hit would be a single double etc. So, at the end of the game I can show our kids how many curves, the location of their pitches the number of hits allowed and what they were including strike to ball ratio etc. Just an idea that I thought would fit well with your scoring application. If not, no problem.
I am enjoying your iscore app.

Re: pitching stats
We have actually been talking about doing this for quite some time, and likely will at some point. We just don't have enough manpower to do everything we would like to do, so have tried to focus on making our existing products even better. But as soon as we get some free time, we have had interest in both pitch tracking as a separate application and hit tracking as a separate application.
Re: pitching stats
thanks FTM for the clarification in difference between "Game Sharing" (next release), and "co-operative scorekeeping" (possible future future release) and the related idea of specialty "sub aps" for pitch track, hit track etc, (under consideration).
plivengood - apparently we will have to wait on that next level of integration .."co-operative scorekeeping". to future future release . I can envision it will take some time as the coding will be complex.
bones - as you can see good idea, just have to wait.
