Pitchers Runs Allowed Stat ('R') Issue in Error-DP-Run situation (fixed)
Pitchers Runs Allowed Stat ('R') Issue in Error-DP-Run situation (fixed)
Finally getting around to using this program and like it ... however, I noticed about seven games in that the program isn't adding unearned runs into a pitcher's run totals. In other words, a pitcher will give up four runs total but three are earned. The team linescore totals are correct, but when I look at the box score and the individual stats, the pitcher is listed as giving up three runs and three earned runs. Where is the fourth and only unearned run being accounted for? Thanks ...
Re: Unearned runs not counting
The program does a pretty good job calculating Earned/Unearned Runs. I suspect your missing run is tied to a substitution or play entry mistake that the program has accounted for - it generally does not loose runs.
The easy way to start to investigate is to review the score card ...earned runs are easily identified as solid blue and unearned runs have a white burst in the middle of the blue. then review the Play by Play / Editor..
Unfortunately, without significantly more detail about your game .. pitchers, substitutions, scoring and error generating plays etc.. pretty hard to troubleshoot much more over the forum board.
If the scorecard review does not help, You can try and email customer support (support@iscoresports.com) and include your device ID (Option > Admin ) and indicate the exact game you want them to look at and why. they likely can look at it and help explain .
again, The program generally does a pretty good job calculating Earned/Unearned Runs, iscore often applies more rules than the casual score keeper, but there are definitely times when iscore just can not know how to replay an inning without error and needs manual overriding .. if you need more info on how to manual override stats see this thread viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3115
Feel free to post back with more questions and info ...

Re: Unearned runs not counting
Thanks for the reply, Ohio Tex. In one instance the pitcher threw a complete game. So basically the program isn't adding unearned runs to the runs allowed total. The ERA is still figured correctly.
Re: Unearned runs not counting
I have not noticed the program 'loose a run' under the pitchers "R" stat.. would have to review the specifics of your data entry , Play by play and scorebook to help identify the cause..
If you want to email me the play by play and scorebook. ohiotex.iscorebaseball@gmail.com . Maybe i could see something you missed, but support can look at the data entry code if you email them ...

Re: Unearned runs not counting
thanks, OT, I'll check my date entry. I must be missing something, though it seems weird that the run shows up in the inning-by-inning linescore but not the pitcher's stats. I gotta run now, but I'll get back to you. Thanks again for checking in. I appreciate the suggestions.
Re: Unearned runs not counting
I agree it sounds odd. but it sounds like it has nothing to do with Earned/Unearned runs. but instead the "R" (runs allowed) column in the pitcher stats.
my first guess is that the pitcher inadvertently got subbed out, and a Run scored for the Team while you accidentally did not have a pitcher assigned in the defense (aka " ?" or " unknown" pitcher) . An 'empty' pitcher would explain why team runs are correct in box score, but a pitcher's stat line is short.
I know tedious, but after reviewing the scorecard the best thing to do is go through the play-by-play editor to make sure the pitcher shows in all the plays.. make sure he is in the starting line up, and never inadvertently got subed out .a check of the number of Batters Faced stat, may point to a clue if a batter was missed. i know you said he pitched a complete game, but does he get pinch hit or pinch run for - that could be a point when a sub back could get missed.,
also, for good measures, you may want to force a manual stat recalc on the Pitcher Stat Page
(game Manager > game > Team Pitching > Recalc).
keep me posted on your findings.

Re: Unearned runs not counting
OhioTex, the scorecard looks good and I went through the PBP and the pitcher was in there at all times for that inning. I looked through my other games (I'm playing an APBA baseball project) and this appears to have happened one other time but there are other games where unearned runs are accounted for in the runs allowed totals correctly.
One thing I notice on the scorecard: the run scored on the unearned run in question isn't a solid blue color. The blue color radiates from white to the blue. Is that trying to tell me something is missing or is that the way all unearned runs are colored in?

Re: Unearned runs not counting
As mentioned previously.. on the scorecard, solid blue represents an earned run.. broken blue, aka white star burst in middle represents an un earned run . that is the standard iscore uses
without seeing the game, or play by play. not sure what else i can say. If you want to email me you can <email removed>
and I can see what i can see or you can email support.

Re: Unearned runs not counting
I replied to your email.. nothing stood out on scorecard that would explain
If you email support@iscoresports.com with your customer id and explain the issue they can look at the underlying code
The play by play did not show any detroit pitcher substitutions, he pitched start to finish complete game. Detroit pitcher stat line says 9 ip (correct) and score board says Detroit won 8 to 4 (correct). So it does seem odd to have pitcher R stat=3 (not 4). Support will have to investigate further
